Important Warning: Typo error in weekly email due to incorrect proofing

Unfortunately there was a typo in some versions of this week's email that said you could get the free £100 through Alliance & Leicester without properly switching to the account.

This was an error: in order to get the full offer you must use Alliance & Leicester's* switching service to move your salary payments, plus any direct debits and standing orders from your present bank account to it.

What it should have said

Here is the correct version of the text, that now also appears in the on-site version of the email...

Get 12 FREE bottles of wine (£6.99 p&p) just for opening up a current account - you needn't bank there
Internet bank Smile, part of the Co-Op, is offering a case of wine to new customers. What's the deal? To get the wine voucher, open one by Wed 1 Oct, and pay in £800/month for two months, though you needn't keep the cash there, you can withdraw it, and you needn't shift direct debits over. Do be aware opening a current account adds a credit search to your file, so only those with good credit histories should do this. Is it any good? If you want an ethical account, it's a good option, though there are much better rates out there ... Free £100: Alliance & Leicester* gives £100, free annual Europe travel insurance and a 0% overdraft for the first year, although you must properly shift to it. Alternative free wine: Gas & elec comparison site Uswitch* also offers a case of wine if you switch through it via this link. FULL info in the Forum Note: Smile Current Account Offer Related: Best Bank Accounts, Credit Ratings, Credit Card Freebies, Cheapest Gas & Elec

The information has always been correct in all places that it appears on the site itself.
