BHS logoBHS 10% student discountIn stores with ID card, online via Student Beans & NUS Extra

Ongoing

Students can get 10% off everything online at BHS, and in its stores.

If you're shopping in a store, simply show a valid student ID card at the checkout. If you're shopping online, you'll need a code from Student Beans, which you can get for free by signing up with your university details.

You can also get this discount with an NUS Extra card, by entering your card number online at the checkout. NUS Extra cards cost £12, and can get you discounts at more retailers than your student ID, but if you don't have one already and you just want this discount, you'd be better off using Student Beans.

BHS logoBHS: MoneySaving tips & tricksIncl exclusive offers for email subscribers

Ongoing

High-street institution BHS is in the process of being wound down after entering administration last month, but says it will “continue to trade as normal in store and online”. See our news story for what it means for you.

While BHS also says “placing orders online and all parcel deliveries remain unaffected during administration” - physically leaving the store with the items in your hand once you've paid is the only way of making sure you receive the goods.

While it remains trading, there are ways to save money at BHS, including:

  • Exclusive offers for email subscibers. If you sign up to the BHS email newsletter, you'll receive its promotions direct to your inbox.

  • Check the online offers page. The BHS sale and offers page lists offers from all departments.

  • Check out similar retailers, eg, Debenhams and M&S. If you're not committed to buying from BHS, check out our deals from Debenhams, M&SDorothy PerkinsJohn Lewis, House of Fraser, Very and Littlewoods, where there may be a better offer.

  • Had a problem with BHS? There’s a free online tool you can use to complain – it helps draft, manage and if necessary escalate your complaint. It’s offered by a firm called Resolver, which we like so much we work with it to help people get complaints justice – you can use it to complain to BHS.

Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.

You shouldn't notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links.
