Elemis logo'Free' £12ish Elemis day or night creamFreebie on the cover of Marie Claire magazine

If you buy the July edition of Marie Claire magazine (£3.99, Rebel Wilson on the front) by Thu 30 Jun, on the cover you'll find a 15ml Elemis hydra-nourish day or night cream freebie on the cover.

We worked out the night cream's worth about £12 based on the cost of the  50ml full-size version, and the day cream about £11 based on the cost of the 50ml full-size version at John Lewis.

If you want a specific product, you may have to root around the shelf to find it. The freebies are only available when buying the magazine in shops, and won't be sent to subscribers.

20% off at Elemis

On page 171 of the same magazine you'll also find a code for 20% off online at Elemis, valid until Fri 31 Jun on full-sized products only. It can't be used with any other offer or on delivery.

InStyle logo'Free' £15ish Elemis face cream with £4 magOn the cover freebie

Expired

Buy the November edition of InStyle magazine by Wed 5 Nov (£3.99, Leighton Meester on the front) and on the cover you'll get either a 15ml Elemis Hydra-Boost Day cream or a 15ml Hydra-Nourish Night cream.

Elemis doesn't usually sell these products in 15ml travel size, but based on 20ml versions, we worked them out to be worth around £13 for the day cream and £15 for the nightcream.

MSE Frederika says:

These products would normally cost much more than the magazine, so if you want them it's worth buying the magazine, even if you don’t want to read it.

Buy the August issue of Zest magazine (£3.70) and you'll find a voucher on p80 for a free 10ml bottle of Elemis Visible Brilliance face serum. Take the voucher to one of the 23 participating Debenhams store with an Elemis counter by Tue 6 Aug (list below). There are only 1,000 serums to give away, and it's first-come, first-served, so it’s probably not worth making a special trip.

The full-size bottle (30ml) costs £42 at John Lewis, so we've calculated this to be worth £14.

Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
