Expired Deals

Odeon logo£20 for 5 Odeon cinema tickets*Or 2 for £10. Via daily deals site. Normally up to £13 each

MSE Update Wed 29 Jun, 11.53am: This deal was originally due to end on Mon 27 Jun, but Groupon has decided to extend it until Thu 30 Jun.

You can get five Odeon cinema tickets for £20, or two for £10, online at daily deals site Groupon*. Better still, you don't have to use all the codes in one go and they can be used by different people (great for families), until they expire on Wed 20 Jul.

Groupon says there are 450,000 vouchers available overall, and the deal will run until Thu 30 Jun unless all the vouchers go before then. Similar deals have been very popular in the past and the vouchers have run out before the end date - so go quick if you want one.

Any exclusions?

The voucher is valid for standard 2D showings at all Odeon cinemas, except Leicester Square, The Lounge at Whiteleys and BFI IMAX and doesn't include 3D or IMAX showings. You can't use it before Fri 8 Jul on screenings of The Secret Life of Pets or Independence Day. See 'more info' below for full exclusions.

How to redeem your voucher

Groupon hasn't made this easy, so we've tried to explain the process below.

  • Once you've bought your voucher, log in to your Groupon account and go to 'My Groupons' in the top-right corner.
  • Click 'view voucher' next to the Odeon deal and your voucher will appear on screen - it will contain a link, which you need to follow to redeem your code.
  • In the link, enter your email address and the Groupon code shown at the top of your voucher (unhelpfully, there are a few codes to choose from - see the picture for an example of the one you need), then click 'redeem code'.
  • Unique codes will appear on screen for each of your cinema tickets - a copy will also be sent to the email address you used to register with Groupon.

Before you buy, is it worth it?

A full-price adult ticket for a 2D film at Odeon can cost £2.50-£13ish depending on location. As this offer gets tickets for £4-£5, it's only worth getting if you usually pay more. For example, at London's Tottenham Court Road branch, you could save around £9 for an adult ticket as they're up to £13.50 each, whereas in Dorchester, the price is only £2.50 for some showings.

Before buying, check prices at your local cinema as some independent chains may be cheaper.

Unfortunately, the voucher isn't valid with the Meerkat Movies deal, which can get you 2for1 cinema tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (see our Deals Hunters blog - Meerkat Movies trick: £2ish gets 2for1 movies for a year). So check which offer works out cheaper for you - if your local Odeon sells tickets for less than £8, you may be able to get a cheaper deal with Meerkat Movies on those days.

50% off Odeon until Thursday

If you're just after one or two tickets this week, you can get 50% off Odeon tickets until Thu 16 Jun. This offer can't be combined with the Groupon vouchers.

More info

It can't be used with any other offer or discount voucher (including Meerkat Movies, Tesco, The Times, The Sun Perks, Movies in the Morning), or with Odeon points.

The offer includes Newbies screenings and club seats, but excludes premier seats, D-Box seats, Gallery performances, The Lounge performances, IMAX, BFI IMAX, iSense, family tickets, Odeon Silver Screen, Odeon Kid’s, Event Cinema, Odeon Screen Unseen, premieres, special events or events not open to the public.

Also excludes these extras:

  • 3D glasses
  • Gift cards and vouchers
  • Odeon Premiere Club cards
  • Food & drink
  • Merchandise

The tickets must be for personal use only - so the vouchers can't be used on school bookings, corporate or private hire, or third-party bulk ticket bookings.

National Express logoNational Express 40% off code for £2Groupon code, most UK routes, travel Jan/Feb

If you're looking to travel by coach in the new year, until 11.59pm on Wed 6 Jan you can get a code for £2 from Groupon that gets 40% off most UK routes with National Express. If your journey is going to cost more than £5 (before any discount and before the £1 booking fee), using the code could save you money - unless you can find a 'funfare' for cheaper (see below).

You can use the discount on standard fares (single or return, not 'funfares') for travel between Mon 4 Jan and Sun 28 Feb, excluding Sat 13 Feb to Sun 21 Feb. It's valid on all seats on all UK journeys except  airport routes, festival and events packages, those operated by third parties and Eurolines. You'll need to book at least three days before travel and before Sun 31 Jan.

How do I book it?

  • Check the cost of a standard ticket on National Express, then see if an online advance ‘funfare’ is available as this starts from £5 and could be better for you. Also check the price on Megabus*.
  • If the standard National Express fare is cheapest and £5+, go to Groupon and pay £2 for your code and PIN.
  • Then book through this National Express link and enter your code and PIN. Booking fee’s £1 after discount.
  • Coach tickets are non-refundable, but if you can't find a journey you want after you've paid £2, you can get a refund through Groupon within 14 days.

Each code is for one person and you can get a maximum of four codes per transaction. There's a £1 booking fee per transaction and you'll pay an extra £2 to have your tickets posted to you, though you can print them at home for free.

With this offer, we found a return journey from Newcastle to Edinburgh leaving Sat 30 Jan for £15 (including £1 booking fee).

Groupon logo£45 Jawbone UP24 fitness & sleep tracker*Next cheapest £60. Via daily deals site. Activity tracking wristband

If you go online to Groupon* you can get a large red Jawbone UP24 activity tracker for £44.99 including delivery (RRP £99.99, next cheapest £60). The offer is due to run until Sun 7 Jun, but stock is limited and when they're gone, they're gone, so go quick if you want one. Other colours and sizes are available but prices vary from £44.99 to £64.99.

The next cheapest we've found a Jawbone UP24 elsewhere is £60 at Ebuyer (orange only), so we reckon this is a pretty good price if you were planning to buy one anyway.

You can get the older Jawbone UP models for less (currently £34.99 online at I Want One of Those*), so it's worth considering whether you need a newer model.

What is a Jawbone UP24 activity tracker?

Worn around the wrist, it wirelessly connects to your iOS or Android device giving information to help boost your health and fitness by monitoring your eating, moving and sleeping habits. It vibrates to wake you at the optimal moment in your sleep cycle and also alerts you when you've been inactive for too long during the day.
