A large number of Barclays customers were left unable to pay with their debit cards, make ATM withdrawals or use some other services after the bank was hit by major IT problems on Saturday.
The bank apologised and said that "technical difficulties" had affected "some digital services" for some of its 15 million customers on Saturday afternoon. The problem is understood to have been due to an internal systems issue and was not the result of a cyber-attack.
Telephone banking and app and in-branch payments are also thought to have been hit by the outage.
A spokesperson told MoneySavingExpert.com that the issue was largely resolved by 4.30pm, but that the fix was rolled out gradually meaning that a few customers still had issues after this. At 9.30pm on Saturday the bank tweeted: "Everything is resolved now – sorry for any inconvenience."
However, reports from users of ongoing problems with app and online transactions continued. If you're still having problems, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
