Thousands of passengers in the UK and abroad have had their travel plans shattered following the collapse of airline Flyglobespan.
All flights have been cancelled, though some other budget airlines have launched rescue deals for stranded passengers abroad.
Those who booked using a credit card or a Visa debit card may be able to recover the cost of any cancelled flights.
The airline's tour operator arm, The Globespan Group, has also ceased trading.

- Will you be able to fly? All Flyglobespan flights have now been cancelled. See the Cheap Flights guide for tips on how to get a cut-price alternative, or consider special Easyjet, Flybe or Ryanair deals if you're stranded abroad (links for them below).
- Did you book a package with The Globespan Group? Whether you're already abroad or about to go away, these are protected under the ATOL scheme so you should be given alternative flights/accommodation (see the Cheap Package Holidays guide).
- Did you book direct with the airline by credit card? If so, your card company is jointly liable with Flyglobespan and should give you a refund for every leg that costs £100 or more (see the Section 75 guide). If you paid less than £100 for any leg then you will not get a refund for that particular flight, unless you were using a Visa credit card (see below).
- Did you book direct with the airline by Visa debit or credit card? You could get a refund from your card company under the Visa chargeback scheme, with no minimum spending limit (see the Visa Chargeback guide).
- Did you book direct with the airline via any other means? Your only refund hope is from the airline's administrators (though this is unlikely as passengers are low on the list of creditors) or via a travel insurance claim (see below).
- Did you book via a travel agent? You will need to rely on travel insurance to get a refund (see below).
- Check your travel insurance. If your policy includes scheduled airline failure then you should be covered, so check the wording. You may also have bought specific airline failure cover, in which case you're also protected. Otherwise, it's unlikely you'll get anything back from your insurer (see the Cheap Travel Insurance guide).
Avoid expensive airline calls
The website Saynoto0870.com says worried customers should call 0141 332 3233 rather than Flyglobespan's expensive up to 40p/minute premium rate lines that have been set up. A 30-minute call could cost up to £12, while 0141 numbers are part of inclusive call packages so you pay no extra.
Firm winding down
Administrators of the airline's parent company said some staff would be retained to help wind down the firm.
But they added around 800 redundancies would be made and they plan to investigate why a "significant" amount of cash from credit card bookings did not reach Flyglobespan.
Bruce Cartwright, joint administrator of the airline's parent company Globespan for PricewaterhouseCoopers, says: "At the moment, operations have ceased and therefore we are in an orderly wind-down, and therefore we will be making redundancies today.
"We will be asking certain staff to stay on and help us with that wind-down."
