This is a list of checked out deals, vouchers, and codes updated once a week that will enable you to cut your travel costs to the bone.

New Deals
- 10,000 £1 Megabus return fares
Cheap coach seat provider Megabus is currently offering 10,000 "free" seats on its routes starting or finishing in England and Wales. The 50p booking fee still applies yet this means you could travel from London to Leeds for just 50p rather than the usual £1.50 (or £1 for a return). Tickets can be booked now, to travel Mondays to Thursdays from 12 Jan to 1 March. The last date free tickets will be bookable is 21 February.

- £1 National Express coach fares across the UK
Coach company National Express is running an offer with the Mirror newspaper to book journeys throughout England, Wales and Scotland for £1 each way until 1 February for travel up to 27 March. It's given us permission to put the offer and link here. There are over 150 routes including Edinburgh to London; Sheffield to Newcastle; and Oxford to Birmingham. You'll need to register to receive its newsletter on the special National Express Daily Mirror page and tickets are either sent to you via email as an E-ticket or direct to your mobile phone as an M-ticket.

Train deals
- Brighton/Portsmouth to London, £3 o/w
Railway operator Southern offers an Advance one way ticket to London Victoria on its routes into London from Brighton, Portsmouth, Littlehampton and Bognor Regis. It's available to book up to 6pm the night before travel either online or from ticket offices where reservations can be made. There's more info on the Southern Railway website). To look for tickets you'll need to use the National Rail website then follow the links to book. If the £3 fares don't appear when searching for tickets from/to London then try narrowing your search to London Victoria.

- Manchester to London for £1-£10
Virgin Trains sells dirt cheap tickets from London Euston to Manchester and vice versa. Every few months it releases new tickets and if you're quick you can grab them for as little as £1 each way. If not, under £10 is easily possible for most.
To book simply go to the Virgin Trains website, select your route (either to or from Manchester) and search the dates for the £1 fares. If you can't find £1 tickets, £3, £7 and £9 fares are available, still a bargain! You can now book for travel from 4 January to 6 February 2009 (though this offer has been regularly extended). The only caveat is you need to print your tickets at home and ensure they're clear and legible. Click here for more help on printing tickets. The Virgin print at home booking site can have technical difficulties occasionally. If you're having trouble accessing the link the best thing to do is come back and check again later.

- Birmingham to London and back for a tenner
This is a nifty service to slash the cost of travelling between Birmingham and London. Use the Chiltern Railways special ticket to your mobile service which costs from £5 each way and you could pay just £10 to get to London and back.
While the route is slower and takes you from Birmingham Snow Hill or Moor Street to Marylebone rather than Birmingham New Street to Euston, if you're willing to spend a little longer getting there, then the price difference can be huge.

- £1 Megatrain & Megabus return fares
Sister companies Megatrain and Megabus offer train and bus fares across the UK for £1 each way plus a 50p booking charge per transaction. Trips include Edinburgh, London, Manchester, Cardiff & many more. Go to Megabus or Megatrain (you're directed to the same site) pick where you're travelling to and from and opt for train or bus to find available fares.

- Wrexham/Shrewsbury to London, 2 adults & 2 kids £69 return
Wrexham and Shropshire Railway offers a "Saver" ticket to London Marylebone. It's available for booking until 20 March. A family of four can travel from all the rail operator's stations, which include Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Telford for £69 return, with the exception of Tame Bridge Parkway which is £59 return. Bus & coach deals
- London to Gatwick, Stansted and Luton from £4 return
Cheap bus operator Easybus is currently offering journeys from Central and West London to Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports starting at £2 each way. You don't have to be flying to use the service.
