B&Q clearance sale – including £120 Weber BBQ for £44

The rumours are true. B&Q has just launched a massive sale – with over 20,000 items under £10 – and a few of them are incredible discounts.

I’ve been hearing for weeks that a huge B&Q sale* was going to happen. One of our Twitter followers told us there was an area cordoned off in their local store, while another said there’s potentially up to 80% off sheds. B&Q then tweeted us admitting it was on.

The official info – what’s happening

B&Q told me there are 20,000 products for £10 or less, but it refused to reveal how much the discount is, for example, if it’s up to a 40, 50 or even 70%+ discount.

The sale officially starts in most stores on Wednesday 6 August (not all will take part), but has already started online, and is due to end on Thursday 4 September.

It’s not in all stores. Those not taking part are Kendal, Lancaster, Mansfield, Tottenham, Waltham Forest, Kettering, Melton Mowbray, Northallerton, Leven, Powderhall, Eastbourne, Larkfield, Newhaven, Strood, Tonbridge, Basingstoke, Portswood Road (Southampton), Devizes, Leominster, Trowbridge, Yate, Christchurch, Buxton, Talke Pits (Stoke-on-Trent), Uttoxeter, Chard, Exmouth, Penzance and Torquay.

Bargains found in-store

While the online sale has already started,  it’s rumoured the in-store sale is going to be even better – it seems to be a real mix of the official clearance sale (which you can find online) and managers getting rid of old stock, meaning there are some serious bargains to be had.

Some people have already had items scanning through at sale prices.

  • £1 small B&Q BBQ cover, usually £10 (on sale for £4 online)
  • £3 Minnie Mouse bedding set (can’t find price online)
  • £1-£3 wellington boots, usually £13 – £15
  • £4 Mac Allister cordless screwdriver, usually £15
  • £4 Crown paint (750ml), usually £15
  • £5 wheelbarrow, usually £44.98
  • £19 Bosch pressure washer – can’t find the exact model but they start from £80
  • £23 Ryobi 19 volt cordless drill, usually £98
  • £39 9m x 3m marquee, usually £149 (in-store only)
  • £44 Weber One-Touch Original 57cm BBQ, usually £120 (still full price online)
  • £79 kids’ Kitty playhouse, can’t find exact model but they start from £213
  • £85 electric fire, usually £429 (in-store only as still full price online)

A word of warning in response to your comments below: Prices and stock levels aren’t consistent in all stores – just because one store has a particular item at a certain price doesn’t mean all stores will have it.

Bargains found online

The online clearance is already in full swing – so much so the website is struggling due to the heavy traffic. Unlike in-store, where bargains and prices differ from store to store, at least here you’ll get a consistent price. But be aware items are selling fast – here are some of the bargains I’ve found online:

How does the online sale stack up?

Until I see official in-store prices, it’ll be hard to compare.

But if you’re looking for a specific item, it’s worth bagging it online ASAP, as this sale is going to be really popular and stock’s likely to be very limited.

Alternatively, if you’re just browsing for a bargain, it’s worth going into a store because prices seem to be even better.

If you spot any bargains, let me know. I’ll continue to update this blog over the next couple of days to keep you posted on the latest finds.
