I won front-row tickets to the Grimsby premiere – how you can boost your comping ‘luck’

We have all won something at some point in our lives. It could be as big as a holiday or as small as a school tombola, but the rush you get from a win is still the same. This is true for me, because tonight I have front row seats at the world premiere of the new Sacha Baron Cohen film Grimsby in Leicester Square – I won them in a competition.

You may or may not know that I am a fully-fledged ‘comper’ who enters hundreds of competitions a day. In just over a year I’ve won £5,000 worth of prizes.

Couponing and comping are quite similar hobbies, with lots of people enjoying both. Much like extreme couponing, comping isn’t just entering the odd competition and hoping you’ll be lucky enough to win – it’s about systematically entering dozens of competitions to give yourself the best possible odds of winning a prize.

Increasing your odds

While a round-the-world cruise would be a smashing prize to win, the biggest competitions will attract a huge number of entries and normally have only one winner. Of course, there’s always an element of luck involved, but you can certainly tip the odds in your favour by looking for competitions with lots of smaller prizes up for grabs – especially if they don’t have many entries.

Here are some ‘good odds’ competitions you can enter right now:

1,000 Churchill Umbrellas to be won – Simply comment on the Facebook post with who you’d share your umbrella with. 1,000 random winners, currently under 10,000 entries so a 1-in-10 chance of winning. Ends Mon 29 Feb.

2,500 soup mugs to be won – There are 44 winners of soup mugs with a tin of soup every day until Tue 22 Mar. You have five entries daily to win, so there are great odds of a win. Entries also go into a mega draw to win £500 of shopping vouchers.

40,000 Walkers prizes to be won – A promotion on special packs of Walkers crisps is giving away football tickets, T-shirts, sharing bowls and footballs. Simply buy a pack and enter its code online to see if you’ve won.
