How to get free Uber rides this Christmas Eve

Being driven home for Christmas just got  cheaper… From 4pm on Christmas Eve (Sat 24 Dec), you can get £15 off a cab journey by using the Uber smartphone app until 1.30am on Christmas Day – and you don’t need to be a new customer.

So if you’re having a night on the town and want to have a few drinks, you can get home safely and cheaply.

How do I get it?

Budweiser has teamed up with Uber as part of its Get Home Safe campaign to stop drink-driving. Just enter your details on Budweiser’s website – you’ll need to be over-18.

Once you have entered your details, you’ll be emailed a code at 4pm on Christmas Eve to enter on the Uber app under the ‘add promo/gift code’ section. Once it’s entered – you should see it appear in the free rides menu option, and if you book a UberX car from 4pm-midnight and complete the trip by 1.30am on Christmas Day, you’ll get £15 off.

If you’re only traveling a short distance, you may get a completely free ride – though you won’t be able to carry over any remaining credit. If your journey is more than £15, you’ll automatically be charged the difference on the card you use to register.

It only works on UberX cars – the standard cars. Unfortunately you can’t cruise around in an Uber Lux with this offer.

Where does Uber operate? 

You can use Uber in many of the major cities around the UK including some smaller cities and the Home Counties around London. The biggest volume of Uber drivers is in the big cities – but even if you’re not, it’s worth a look. I live in a small town in Essex, and there are still Uber drivers around.

If you’re a new customer to Uber, you can get a free £15 credit for your first ride from VoucherCodes – though you can’t use this code and the Budweiser code together.
