Gift cards are not often reduced because stores are afraid that people will take advantage and play the system. We’ve spotted reduced gift cards at Tesco and Asda, so we’re going to take advantage and play the system…
Until 11.59pm on Sun 26 Mar, you can get 20% off selected Pizza Express, Ask Italian, Zizzi, Monsoon, New Look, Gap, Google Play and Now TV gift cards at Tesco (find your nearest*) or Asda stores (find your nearest*) or online at Tesco*. The discount will be applied automatically at the checkout. Delivery’s from £1.50 or free for digital gift cards.
We’re not big fans of giving these as gifts at MSE, because often people forget to use them before they expire, and if a firm goes bust, its gift cards are usually rendered useless. So we suggest you buy them for yourself, provided those are places you’d go to anyway, then use them when there’s an offer on to save even more money.
Tesco gift cards
As gift cards effectively work as cash, you can combine them with other discounts.
Here are the gift cards included and some current offers we spotted:
– Gap: £25 gift card for £20. Expires: 24 months after non-use. Other discounts: 20% off for new email subscribers and look out for short–lived online codes. See all Gap deals.

– Ask Italian: £20 gift card for £16. Expires: 18 months from date of purchase. Other discounts: 30% off mains, Mother’s Day set menu £19.95. See all Ask Italian deals.
– Monsoon: £25 gift card for £20. Expires: 18 months from date of purchase. Other discounts: Up to 50% off sale (ends Wed 22 Mar). See all Monsoon deals.
– New Look: £25 gift card for £20. Expires: 24 months from date of purchase. Other discounts: 10% student discount. See all New Look deals.
– Google Play: £25 gift card for £20. Expires: No expiry date.
There’s a maximum of five gift cards per transaction in store and a maximum spend of £100 if you buy them online.
The offer’s available in every Tesco store that sells gift cards, but not every store will have the same range. If you’re planning a special trip, it’s worth calling ahead to check if your store stocks the one you’re after. And it’s worth noting, gift cards are non-refundable.
Asda gift cards
These gift cards can only be purchased in Asda stores, not online, but there are some different options from what you’ll find in Tesco.

Gift cards are subject to availability and individual terms and conditions are listed on the back of each card. There is no limit on the number that you can buy at Asda.
