Nothing can beat free food and drink – especially when there isn’t much effort involved in claiming it. And that’s what these 8 easy freebies are all about.
All of these deals require nothing more than a quick sign-up to a company’s newsletter or free loyalty scheme and you’ll get a tasty freebie as a reward.
As you might expect, when you join sign up for these freebies you’ll likely be agreeing to receive marketing emails. If you want to put a stop to these, after you’ve claimed the freebie, simply find the ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any of the company’s emails.
However, a few of these companies will also email you with a voucher for a free treat on your birthday – in addition to your freebie for initially signing up (see our 50+ Birthday Freebies). These are all ongoing offers and can technically be pulled at any time, so don’t hang about if you want to claim them:
Totally free food/drink:
Greggs free hot drink
If you’ve an iPhone or Android smartphone, you can get a totally free hot drink (normally up to £2) at Greggs when you download its free rewards app. You can choose any regular-size hot drink (tea, latte, cappuccino, etc) and you don’t need to buy anything to get the freebie.
Krispy Kreme free doughnut
Sign up to Krispy Kreme’s newsletter and enter your details to get a free original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut (norm £1.35-£1.75). You can claim this at Tesco stores with a Krispy Kreme cabinet, as well as at Krispy Kreme stores, but you’ll have to select on the coupon which you’ll claim it from.
GBK free side for you and a friend
You’ll need a mate for this deal as it’s all about referring a friend. You first need to download the GBK app and you’ll be given a unique code to pass on to a friend. Your friend also then needs to download the app and enter the code you gave them. Then you’ll each be able to claim one totally free side dish – fries, onion rings, corn or slaw (norm £2-£4ish each) – and you don’t need to claim them together.
KFC free side
You can get a free KFC side when you download its free ‘Colonel’s Club’ app from Google Play or the App Store. Sides include two hot wings, small popcorn chicken, regular fries, ice cream sundae or a regular soft drink (norm 80p-£1.70ish). You don’t need to buy anything else to claim the freebie.
Ikea free hot drink
Unlike a lot of these freebies, you can claim this free hot drink at Ikea as many times as you like – every time you shop there. Simply sign up for a free Ikea Family card to get a free cup of tea or filter coffee at the in-store restaurant (norm £1.35). You can get it anytime Monday to Friday, but not at weekends, and Ikea says you’ll only need one Ikea Family card to get free drinks for everyone you’re with.
Booths free hot drink
If you live near a Booths supermarket (find your nearest), you can get a free regular-sized hot drink in store every day with its free Booths card. Choose from tea, hot chocolate, latte, Americano, white Americano and cappuccino.
‘Freebies’ that require a purchase
There are a couple of others worth mentioning, which although not completely free as you have to buy something first, require a sufficiently low spend to make it a ‘free’ treat probably still worth signing up for.
Eds Diner ‘free’ burger
Sign up to Eds Club and you’ll receive a voucher for a ‘free’ burger or hot dog (norm £5.99-£9.99), when you buy any drink. The cheapest drink you can buy is an Espresso for £1.45, so you could be saving a lot of cash.
Waitrose ‘free’ hot drink
Sign up for a myWaitrose loyalty card and get a ‘free’ regular-sized hot tea or coffee in store every day from the self-service machine. You’ll have to make a purchase in order to grab your freebie, but there is no minimum spend, meaning you can spend less than 30p on a banana, or 50p-ish on a pastry to go with your drink, and still save £2ish compared with buying a posh coffee from somewhere like Starbucks or Costa. And like the Ikea free drink, you can claim this as often as you like.
I hope these food and drink freebies will leave you feeling full and quenched. Let me know if there are any freebies we’ve missed in the comments below, on Twitter @MSE_Deals or on Facebook.
