If you want to see a film on the big screen, you can clean up with this blockbuster of a deal…
Buy any three Finish, Vanish, Dettol or Airwick products in one transaction at Tesco (see the full list*) either in store before Wed 2 Aug or before Wed 23 Aug online at Tesco.com*, and you can claim two free Vue cinema tickets to use on any Thursday until 28 Sept.
The cheapest product we spotted included is Dettol Neutraair Fresh Morn Dew (300ml). The air freshener is normally £1.50 but is on offer at £1 until Tue 1 Aug, which means a £3 outlay would bag your freebies – and you can do this again and again.
How do I do it?
1. Purchase any three of the above cleaning products in a single transaction from Tesco (see a full list here).
2. Enter your details on the promotional website and upload a picture of your receipt before 11.59pm on Wed 2 Aug if you shopped in-store and Wed 23 Aug if you shopped online to claim your free cinema tickets.
3. Tesco says you should then receive an email within three working days with a code to get your free Vue cinema tickets.
4. Show the code at the box office of any Vue cinema (except for Leicester Square) until Thu 28 Sept to get two people in for free. As you can only claim at the box office, popular screenings may have sold out, so it might be best to ring ahead or check online to make sure there are seats left.
What films can they be used on?
The free tickets are valid on any 2D screening of any film, including new releases such Despicable Me 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean – as long as they’re on Thursday. If you want to upgrade to 3D for instance, that option is available for an ‘uplift fee’ set out by each Vue cinema (we’re waiting on confirmation of costs from Vue).
There are no restrictions on how many times you can claim the two free tickets (as long as each time you buy another three cleaning products in a single transaction) – great if there are a few films you want to see.
How much do I save?
Adult tickets at Vue range from about £8-£14 (more expensive in London), while child tickets range from £6-£10. Two adult cinema tickets for the new movie Despicable Me 3 would cost you £26.58 in the Vue closest to MSE Towers, so with this deal you save about 90% on the price based on buying the cheapest items (three Dettol air fresheners at £1 each).
Getting two of these tickets even after buying cleaning products makes it cheaper than the Meerkat Movies 2for1 deal, which itself can only be used on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Also, Sweet Sundays is back, where a £3 spend on chocolate will get you one free cinema ticket (blog to come).
