FREE 'Brick Lane' bagels at London pop-up cafe this bank holiday weekend
If you’ll be in London this bank holiday weekend and fancy building your own tower of bagel, simply make your way towards Brick Lane…
Ok, these aren’t technically the world-famous Brick Lane bagels that see tourists and locals alike queuing out into the street 24/7 – they’re New York style instead – but they’re just around the corner on Bethnal Green Road, and, best of all, totally free.
The New York Bakery Co bagel pop-up will be found at 133 Bethnal Green Road, a short walk from Brick Lane, from 8am-2pm on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May this bank holiday weekend. The bagels are breakfast-themed with over 30 fillings available on a choice of six bagel types.
You can either pick from what's available, including smoked salmon and cream cheese or poached egg and smashed avocado, or build your own. There are vegan and vegetarian options available (such as avocado and vegan cheese), and you'll be able to ask for kids options, too.
There will also be surprise guests presenting recipes, as well as breakfast benches, blackboards with chalk and other games for kids to play.
There'll be 60-minute sessions every hour, and you can just turn up 10 minutes before, though it might be worth going earlier as all pre-booked session slots have all already gone and this is likely to be popular. You'll each be given a ticket on entry which you can exchange for your free bagel. And if you do miss out, at least you’ll be in the right area to satisfy your bagel craving (for a couple of quid).
While the bagel is free, the event is supporting The Trussel Trust food bank so donations will be welcome.
