Wetherspoon TRICK to beat bar queues and MoneySaving hacks

Wetherspoon can be a great place to visit if you want to go out for food or drinks, but don’t want to break the bank. During busy times though, you can often find yourself stuck queuing at the bar.

Did you know that there’s a Wetherspoon app where you can order your food and drinks to arrive at your table, without having to order at the bar?

The app, which is free to download on the App Store and Google Play, lets you stay seated at your table and order food or drinks (or both) to be brought over to you. You could think of it as getting the restaurant, table-service, experience but for much less. Please be Drinkaware.

How do I get the app and how does it work?

All you need to do is download the app, sign up for an account and select your chosen Wetherspoon from the list.

You’ll then be shown the full food and drinks menu for that particular pub, including children’s menu and bar snacks. There’s no minimum or maximum spend limit so you could just order yourself a pack of 70p peanuts.

Once you’ve chosen what you’d like to order you just need to enter your table number, which is usually written on your table, and pay. Your food/drink will then be brought over to you and you’ll be emailed your receipt.

You don’t need to worry about queuing at the bar, losing your table, or having to leave the kids at the table while you go up and order. A few of us at MSE were wondering if it would actually be quicker to order at the bar or via the app, so we decided to test this out:

Besides being pretty cheap to begin with, there are a few other ways to save at Wetherspoon. We’ve rounded ‘em up here for you.

So if you fancy going out for a steak, you might be best to go on a Tuesday as you'll be able to get your meal cheaper.

Unlimited hot drinks

If you go into a Wetherspoon and buy a hot drink, you can get free unlimited refills during your visit. This used to just be valid on filter coffee, but it’s recently installed self-service coffee machines in most of its pubs (with the exception of airport pubs and three non-airport pubs), so you can get a refill on any of the drinks available on the machines.

This doesn’t include the ‘luxury’ hot chocolate, but you can get free refills on tea, cappuccinos, lattes, Americanos, filter coffees and flat whites. See our Free Tea and Coffee Deals page for other ways to get yourself a free cuppa.
