Are you the the biggest debt dieter in the UK?  Have you radically reduced your debts over the last year?  I want to crown the champion, plus of course there'll be a £500 prize to help further reduce the debts.

The inspiration for this contest is the Debt Free Wannabe board in the Chat Forum where so many people are gradually becoming debt free, paying off huge amounts.  If you're still struggling, first read Problem Debts? Where To Start then head there.

How to enter?

If you've budgeted until your blue in the face, eBayed your prized collection of vintage records or clawed back the cash to pay off debt in some other way this is the competition for you.  I want to hear all the info.  How have you paid it back? What kept you motivated? And what your top debt dieting tips are.

And remember even if you don't win the contest, the fact you're entering shows you've already won!

Where to send your entry

Send an e-mail to with the following information in.  And remember this isn't just about ‘the person who's cut debts the most, it's about the person who's been most dedicated and used the best techniques. The more innovative the ideas, the more I'll like them. 

What you need to include

  Personal Details:  Your name, age, e-mail address, phone number, occupation and marital/family status.

  Your story?  How did you get into debt?  What is the situation now.  Include the debts at the maximum time, and how much you owe now. (No more than 100 words).

  How have you managed to trim back and ditch the pounds?  Tell the story of how you did it, the biggest savings, where you found the information from, and what it means to you. (No more than 250 words).

  How has debt dieting changed your life? How has being a debt dieter impacted on your day to day life? What has the reaction from friends & family been? (No more than 100 words).

  What is your best debt dieting tip? (No more than 100 words).

  • IMPORTANT NOTE:  Entrants must be willing to take part in publicity surrounding their story.  It's all about being loud and proud that you've dealt with your debts, after all this is about inspiring others to follow your lead.


The Judging and the prizes


I'll be judging entries based on the most inspiring and creative debt dieting tips.  This isn't just about who's repaid the most debt; it's also about how you've done it and motivating others to tackle their debt problems too. 

The Prizes

As well as having the proud title of Britain's Best Debt Dieter the winner will get £500 hard cash and two runners up will get £100 each.  Plus there will be ten signed copies of m'book The Money Diet up for grabs.
