Is your energy fix about to end? Check now and beat the bill shock

If you've signed up to a fixed price energy tariff in the past few years, your bill could be about to soar as 15 deals are ending soon. But you can beat the hikes – if you act now.

About 100,000 households are on fixed deals which end this month or in April. If you do nothing, you'll be moved onto your supplier's more expensive standard tariff and for some, this could mean price rises of over £200.

You should urgently check your bills now to see if you're on any of the 15 tariffs in the table below.

If you are, you can switch now, penalty-free – even if your tariff has exit fees – as suppliers cannot charge exit penalties if there's less than 49 days to run on the tariff. (Join our free Cheap Energy Club to find your best deal.)

Save £100s locking into a cheap fix

All of the market's current cheapest deals are fixes, which ensures your price won't rise.

Ovo, for example, has a one-year fix that someone on a standard tariff paying £1,200 on average will typically pay £1,015 on – though it does have exit penalties.

Npower's online price fix is £1,090 on the same usage with no fees – so if prices fall elsewhere or you want to leave, there's no cost. But if a tariff with exit fees is much cheaper, it can be worth it.

Longer fixes are also available, with some running until as far away as 2018, but these cost more. However if price certainty is crucial for you, or if you know you won't keep switching to better deals, it may be the right choice.

Compare prices

The key thing to remember with energy prices is that the cheapest deal for you depends on your usage and where you live. To find the best deal, plug your details into our free Cheap Energy Club.

It compares the whole market to find you the cheapest tariff and then constantly monitors your deal – alerting you when it's time to change again. What's more, it also usually gives you £30 cashback when you switch.

For more information on energy switching and other cashback options, see our Cheap Gas and Electricity guide.
