Tesco has revamped its payment app and added a new offer to collect bonus Clubcard points.
The supermarket has replaced its PayQwiq app with Tesco Pay+, which – like its predecessor – allows you to pay and automatically collect Clubcard points by swiping your phone at the till.As part of the launch, Tesco's offering you an extra Clubcard point for every £4 you spend in store, on top of the usual one point per £1 – meaning you'll be able to collect five points for every £4 spent in Tesco until 14 January 2018.
What's new with the Pay+ app?
The app is similar to the original PayQwiq, and links to your bank account or credit card to allow you to pay. It also shows your points balance, and allows you to see past transactions at Tesco.
There's no minimum spend and you can pay for up to £250 of shopping using the app. It can be used at all Tesco stores and petrol stations.
Other than the name, the main change is the bonus points offer, available to anyone using the Pay+ app – even if you've already taken advantage of previous PayQwiq bonus points offers.
You'll be able to collect the extra point in addition to other Clubcard offers – so, for example, if you pay with a Tesco credit card (which also offers an extra point per £4) you'd collect six points per £4 spent in store.

How do I get the Pay+ app?
Here's how to get the app:
- Already got PayQwiq? You just need to update the app and you're good to go.
- Never had PayQwiq? You can download Pay+ in the Apple or Android store. It's worth noting that when you set up your account Tesco checks your card is genuine by making a £2 request to your account – the money won't actually be taken but in some cases will appear in your transactions and then disappear.
Why has Tesco changed the app?
The main reason is to "more closely align the app with the Tesco brand", by including the supermarket's name in the name of the app. But whether or not it paves the way for a larger-scale revamp of the existing Clubcard app remains to be seen. Earlier this year Tesco began a major overhaul of the Clubcard scheme by sending out millions of new contactless cards and adding new partner offers.
