Sorry, we can't yet do a full comparison for all Hull postcodes.

This is because in some areas - though not all - there's only one provider of fixed landline and broadband services, which is KCOM. This makes it harder to do a full comparison.

We're working with our data provider to get a more accurate view of these boundaries but in the meantime, we apologise for any inconvenience.

Sky broadband deals

Sky is the UK's biggest digital TV provider, and perhaps best known for its movies and sports channels. It's also a popular broadband firm and offers home phone too.

What does Sky offer?

While Sky is famous for its Sky TV subscription service, it's also a major provider of broadband packages - both standard-speed and fibre - and Sky Talk is its home phone service.

Sky TV typically requires a satellite dish, which you'll need to get installed - it'll be fitted to the outside of your home by a Sky engineer. Alternatively, it recently launched Sky Glass, a smart TV with Sky services built in, with channels delivered via the internet.

Sky offers a range of pick and mix TV packages on top of its standard entertainment option (Sky Signature), including Kids, Sky Cinema, Sky Sports and BT Sports.

Traditional Sky TV packages still come with its Sky Q box, which allows you to record and store your favourite programmes.

It also runs its own mobile phone service Sky Mobile, which 'piggybacks' off the O2 network. See our Cheap Mobile Finder for the latest Sky Mobile deals and all firms that use the O2 network.

Is Sky Broadband any good?

Sky's customer service is rated 'OK' overall.

In our July 2024 poll, 40% of over 700 Sky customers who answered scored it 'great' for customer service, and just over 27% rated it 'poor'.

What type of broadband deals does Sky offer?

Sky has a range of broadband packages. All come with Sky Talk line rental as well.

Its different packages include:

  • Superfast 35 (36Mb)
  • Superfast Broadband(61Mb)
  • Ultrafast Broadband (145Mb)
  • Broadband Ultrafast Plus (500Mb)
  • Broadband Gigafast (up to 900Mb) which is its fastest offering but only available to around 50% of households

Sky uses the Openreach network, so it's available to the majority of households, but not all homes can get the faster speeds - use our address checker to see if you can get it. To find out which speed is right for you, see our Cheap Broadband guide.

All of Sky's broadband packages require you to take line rental too, through its Sky Talk service.

If you simply get its basic Sky Pay-as-you-Talk package so that you can have broadband, calls won't be included.

If you'll use it to make calls, there are a range of packages you can pay for, including Sky Talk Anytime Extra and Sky Talk International Extra.

Who we do and don't compare

This tool looks at 24 of the biggest providers, including the giants of BT, Sky and Virgin, plus special deals we've found or blagged which we believe are top picks. Yet there are also many small providers we can't list - which occasionally have cheap deals - so it's always worth checking direct with any local provider you know of.
Let us know if you find a top deal we've missed and see which providers this tool covers.

    Switching can save you £100s

Many get a cheap promo deal for broadband, line rent and/or TV, and stick with it when it ends, usually paying £100s/year more than they started with. Don't let it be you - compare now and see if you could save.

  • 3

Fast advertised speeds don't mean faster broadband

Providers only have to advertise the average speed received by at least 50% of customers between 8pm and 10pm. Your actual speed can depend on a host of factors - see the full checklist of tips in broadband speed boosting.

  • 4

    Consider your need for speed

If it's just you and the dog, you're likely to be fine with standard speeds averaging around 11Mb. If you share a house, or you use the web for movie downloads, streaming or gaming, you may want to opt for faster speeds in excess of 30Mb.

  • 5

    Beware of mid-contract switching costs

Usually you'll pay for the rest of the contract plus termination fees if you want to switch mid-contract. If your provider increases prices mid-contract and didn't warn you before you signed up, you can switch penalty-free within 30 days of notification of the price hike.
