British Gas: Cheap one-year fix

The British Gas Collective Feb27 tariff was cheaper than all open market fixes when we launched it, at 14.1% less than the current Price Cap on typical use (including £20 MSE dual-fuel cashback). Since then, Outfox Energy has cut its price to about the same level - you'll be able to see both when you do a comparison.

The British Gas tariff is available to existing customers too, and this represents a massive saving compared with even the cheapest deals British Gas offers direct (£120+/yr cheaper than on typical use). Plus if you're already fixed with British Gas it won't charge you early exit fees to switch to this.

British Gas has confirmed it will reduce the rates on this tariff on 1 April 2026 in line with the Government's November 2025 Budget announcement.

  • New and existing customers can get it.

  • It's fixed for 12 months (though rates will drop in April).

  • It's for electricity-only, gas-only or dual-fuel and electricity-only customers.

  • You can pay by Direct Debit, cash or cheque.

  • There are £50 per fuel exit fees.

  • Smart meters are not required.

  • You get £20 dual-fuel MSE cashback (£10 for elec-only or gas-only).

  • Includes 'MSE Enhanced Service'.

  • About 9,000 switches remaining, so 1st come, 1st served (we'll try to get more if it runs out).
