There are always ways to save money at Argos*, so even if there isn't a cracking discount code or sale out there that works for you, don't assume you can't cut your costs further.
Ways to save money at Argos include:
Free Check & Reserve. This allows you to save on delivery costs by reserving an item online and collecting it from an Argos store (find your nearest*). Of course, this will depend on your local store having your item in stock.
Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to find out in which shops they had most success haggling, and 17% said they'd managed to blag a discount at Argos - so it's probably worth a try if you're brave enough. Read our Haggle on the High Street guide for more haggling tips.
Check out similar retailers, eg, Amazon and John Lewis. If you're not committed to buying from Argos, check out our deals from other places such as Amazon and John Lewis, where there may be a better offer.
If you spot any hot deals out there we have missed (we are human after all!), please let us know on Twitter @MSE_Deals or by emailing us at msedeals@moneysavingexpert.com.
Website: Argos*
Start date: Friday 20 December
Sale strength: Up to 50% off on 4,500+ items
Likely to boost? We haven't seen Argos increase the discount on its sale in previous years, so we wouldn't expect it to this year. However, Argos often matches its prices with other retailers, so you could see items discounted further if a competitor reduces its prices.
What does 'up to 50% off' mean?
Min discount we saw: 20%
Max discount we saw: 50%, for example this Tefal Induction five-piece aluminium pan set for £75, was £150
Typical discount based on 10 random items: 33%
For more sales we're expecting, see our Christmas Deals Predictor.
Argos* has discounted hundreds of items for Black Friday across tech, household appliances and beauty, as of Friday 1 November, with the sale lasting until Tuesday 3 December. Argos says more products will be added to the sale weekly.
The retailer has a Black Friday Price Promise which means items marked with the green Price Promise box bought between Friday 1 November and Tuesday 3 December will not go lower before 11.59pm on 25 December 2024. That said, it's still important to do your research and compare prices with other retailers. Not all items in the Black Friday sale carry this promise.
If you're ordering online, make sure you factor in delivery, which starts at £3.95 for small items, increasing to £6.95 for larger items such as furniture – Click & collect is free.
Argos has extended its return period so items purchased from Friday 27 September to Wednesday 25 December can be returned up to Friday 31 January 2025.
