  • There's a lot of uncertainty this year, but see our Black Friday 2021 guide for all our predictions, info and analysis. Check Deals & Vouchers for the latest offers on now or follow us on Twitter @MSE_Deals.

In 2020, Argos discounted almost 1,000 items for the Black Friday sale, including tech, household appliances and beauty products, spanning from Mon 23 Nov to Tue 1 Dec. Many items were 50% off, with some at Argos’ lowest-ever price and we’re predicting more of the same this year.

Last year we found other retailers such as Amazon and Currys were price matching some sale items, although we didn’t find many examples where Argos was the cheapest overall.

If you are ordering online make sure you factor in delivery, which starts at £3.95 for small items, increasing to £6.95 for larger items such as furniture.

We expect items such as the Echo Dot and PlayStation games and games consoles to be likely contenders for this year’s sale.

Strong deals found at 01.21am on Fri 27 Nov 2020 included:

    • Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4 Hits game) – £6.99 (was £15.99). Next cheapest, £7.99 at Smyths Toys.
    • Amazon Echo Dot 4th gen smart speaker – £28.99 (was £49.99). Same price at Amazon.

    However, watch out for duds

We spotted a few instances where items were cheaper elsewhere, even with Argos' Black Friday discount. For example:

    • Trust GXT 830-RW Avonn wired gaming keyboard – £20.99 (was £24.99). CHEAPER at Smyths Toys at 12.99.

Important: Don't get caught up in the Black Friday hype, and keep our money mantras in mind: Only ever buy what you need and can afford. You should always do your own price comparisons to ensure you’ve found the best deal available – don't simply take a retailer's word for it.

  • Some clearance stock can be cheaper in store but the range on Argos's eBay outlet* makes it worth a look.

Most products it sells are new, and where items are refurbished, they're clearly noted.

  • There are always ways to save money at Argos*, so even if there isn't a cracking discount code or sale out there that works for you, don't assume you can't cut your costs further.

Ways to save money at Argos include:

    • Free Check & Reserve. This allows you to save on delivery costs by reserving an item online and collecting it from an Argos store (find your nearest*). Of course, this will depend on your local store having your item in stock.
    • Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to find out in which shops they had most success haggling, and 17% said they'd managed to blag a discount at Argos - so it's probably worth a try if you're brave enough. Read our Haggle on the High Street guide for more haggling tips.
    • 'Free' Argos vouchers. Argos regularly does an offer where you can get a 'free' £5 voucher when you spend £50, or a £10 voucher when you spend £100, to use on your next Argos visit.
    • Check out similar retailers, eg, Amazon and John Lewis. If you're not committed to buying from Argos, check out our deals from other places such as Amazon and John Lewis, where there may be a better offer.

If you spot any hot deals out there we have missed (we are human after all!), please let us know on Twitter @MSE_Deals or by emailing us at

  • Sainsbury's Tu clothing 'up to 50% off' sale

Sainsbury's Tu clothing 'up to 50% off' sale

    Online and in store

You can get up to 50% off Tu clothing if you go online to Sainsbury's or into a store (find your nearest – there's an option to show stores that stock clothing). The Tu sale includes men's, women's, kids' and baby clothes and when we checked on Tue 29 Jun, we found there were over 1,000 items available.

Sainsbury's wasn't able to confirm when the sale will end, so you may want to go quick if you've seen something you like. Delivery's £3.95 or you can click & collect for free if you're spending £20 or more.

Here are some examples we found when we checked on Tue 29 Jun:

As is the nature of sales, stock is limited, so go quick if there's something in particular you're after. If you're looking for more like this, see our Summer Sales round-up.

  • Argos sale?

    Argos sale?

Last year, up to half-price home & Tu clothing, plus smaller reductions on tech & beauty

    Website: Argos*
    Find your nearest: Store locator*
Start date (online): Last year it started on Christmas Day – we predict it'll start on the same day this year.
Start date (in store): Last year it started on Boxing Day – we predict it'll start on the same day this year.
Sale strength: Last year it ran 'up to 50% off' home and Tu clothing. There were smaller reductions on tech, beauty and more. We'd expect to see discounts of up to 50% off this year.
Likely to boost? We haven't seen Argos increase the discount on its sale in previous years, so we wouldn't expect it to this year. However, Argos often price matches other retailers, so you could see items reduced further if a competitor has reduced its price.
