Which Disney+ plan is right for you?

It's £4.99 a month, but you'll have to put up with some adverts and can't watch offline

Disney+ has three different subscription plans available* – 'standard with ads', 'standard' and 'premium'. The table below shows the price and features of each one:

As you can see, you can save up to £8 per month if opting for the 'standard with ads' plan. If you're not bothered about sitting through a few adverts, don't need to watch offline, and aren't fussed about the upgraded video and sound quality, it's worth considering the cheapest plan.

If paying monthly, Disney+ allows you to move between its plans, so you can always switch if you find the cheapest plan doesn't work for you.

Save up to £26 a year

If you'll use it for a year, it's cheaper than paying monthly for those plans

If you opt for the Disney+ 'standard' plan (without ads), it'll cost £8.99 a month, or the 'premium' plan (better video/sound quality and more concurrent streams) is £12.99 a month. However, if you know you'll want either plan for a whole year and you can afford to pay upfront, then you can make a saving.

  • The annual standard plan* is £89.90, saving £17.98 compared to the equivalent monthly cost at £107.88 for 12 months.

  • The annual premium plan* is £129.90, saving £25.98 compared to the equivalent monthly cost at £155.88 for 12 months.

There's no option to pay annually for the £4.99 a month Disney+ 'standard with ads' plan, which is still the cheapest option at the equivalent price of £59.88 for 12 months.

For Disney+ newbies

For new and existing Topcashback members

If you've not had Disney+ before and you're planning to sign up, it's possible to get up to £15 cashback if you go through this Topcashback Disney+* link.

It works best if you're signing up for an annual subscription, as that's where you'll get a decent amount of cashback, though you'll get a small amount for a monthly subscription plan too. For example, sign up to an annual Disney+ 'premium' plan costing £129.90 and you'll get £15 cashback on top, effectively making it £114.90 for the year.

Here's the full breakdown of how much cashback you can get, depending on which subscription you choose:

Topcashback says this is an ongoing offer (though cashback amounts may change from time-to-time), and you'll need to be new to Disney+ to get it. The cashback should be credited to your Topcashback account within 10 weeks.

Important: Cashback is never certain as things can sometimes go wrong (not tracking properly for example), so see it as a bonus rather than a guarantee. Check our Top cashback sites guide for more information.

Clubcard holders get 2x value

Works on 'standard' and 'standard with ads' plans. For new and existing Disney+ subscribers

If you have a Tesco Clubcard with enough points, you can use your Clubcard vouchers to get 50% off a three-month Disney+ subscription. It works on the following two Disney+ plans:

  • 'Standard with ads' (has adverts, full HD video, two concurrent streams, doesn't allow downloads). Swap £7.50 in Clubcard vouchers* for a three-month subscription, normally £14.97.

  • 'Standard' (no adverts, full HD video, two concurrent streams, allows downloads). Swap £13.50 in Clubcard vouchers* for a three-month subscription, normally £26.97.

The Disney+ 'premium' plan isn't included in the Clubcard promotion.

When you swap your vouchers, you'll get a code that's valid until 1 May 2026, so if you're an existing Disney+ subscriber you can wait till your current plan expires, then use the code.

For more ways to make the most of your Clubcard points, see our Tesco Clubcard boosting guide.

Worth £60

Fee-free bank account if you pay in £2,000 a month (£3 monthly fee if you don't)

Lloyds Bank's Club Lloyds account gives you 12 months' Disney+ 'standard with ads' streaming for free (normally £4.99 a month, £59.88 for a year). The account is fee-free as long as you meet its £2,000 a month minimum pay-in – there's a £3 a month fee if you don't.

The 'standard with ads' plan is the same as the Disney+ 'standard' plan except it includes adverts during TV shows and at the beginning of movies, and you can't download content to watch offline. Club Lloyds says you can't currently upgrade to a different Disney+ plan.

You can claim the offer each year you have the account (providing Lloyds doesn't pull it). Alternatively, you can choose six Odeon or Vue cinema tickets, a Coffee Club and Gourmet Society membership, or an annual magazine subscription instead.

We're highlighting Lloyds here for the free Disney+, but see our Best bank accounts guide to check which account is best for you.

Newbies can get up to six-months free

If you're an existing O2 customer, you may be eligible to add a Disney+ 'standard' or 'premium' subscription to your contract, and O2 will give you £2 bill credit each month. This means you can effectively get a Disney+ standard subscription for £6.99 a month, or a premium subscription for £10.99 a month. You'll need to sign up for a minimum of six months.

You can get this deal if you have an O2 Pay Monthly Refresh tariff, or a SIM-only 12 or 18-month contract and purchased your plan directly from O2. You can't get it if you're a 30-day SIM-only customer.

You can add this 'Extra' onto your contract either online through your My O2 account, or by calling 202 from your O2 mobile. What's more, if you've already got a Disney+ subscription, you can still get this offer. Head to the Disney+ help page to make sure you're not billed twice.

If you're a new O2 customer or you've recently upgraded, you can get up to six months free Disney+. However, the offer for existing customers has no time period or end date – so you can continue to get £2 bill credit each month for as long as you have the subscription. Free three months' Disney+ for selected Tesco Clubcard members

Check if you can get it in the Tesco app

Tesco is offering selected Clubcard members three months of the Disney+ 'standard with ads' plan for free (normally £14.97). It can only be claimed until 11.59pm on Thursday 27 June, and it's a quick check to see if you can get it via the Tesco app.

We asked Tesco for more information on who's eligible, but it wasn't overly forthcoming, though its terms and conditions state you may be eligible if you're aged 18 or over and are opted-in to receive marketing communications from Tesco Clubcard. This is an app only offer, so you need to have the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app in order to qualify for this freebie.

How to find out if you're eligible for three months' free Disney+

  • Log in to the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app (for Android / iOS), and select the 'Clubcard' icon at the bottom.

  • Underneath the Tesco Clubcard image, you'll have a 'Rewards' button and a number – if the number is zero, you're not eligible for the offer – if the number is one or more, tap the button to see if you've got the '3 months of Disney+ on us' reward.

Tesco-Clubcard-free-Disney-June-2024

Eligible? Here's how to claim

  • Select the free Disney+ reward in the Tesco app and tap 'Redeem my reward' before 11.59pm on Thursday 27 June – your code should be automatically applied, or you can enter it manually at this Disney+ redemption page.

  • Enter an email address to activate your Disney+ account – you can only get this freebie if you don't have an active Disney+ subscription already.

Important. After the three-month freebie ends, you'll be automatically enrolled into the full-price 'standard with ads' plan – currently £4.99 a month. If you don't want to keep Disney+, make sure you cancel before the free period ends.

What the Disney+ 'standard with ads' plan gets you... It allows you to stream the entire Disney+ library, but you'll need to watch adverts (up to approximately four minutes per hour during TV shows, and at the start of movies only). You can watch on up to two devices at the same time, in up to 1080p Full HD video quality, but you can't download content.

Why Tesco's doing this... It says it's celebrating the 30th anniversary of Disney's The Lion King.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.

If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
