More than a million households are to be paid a share of £10.4 million after energy regulator Ofgem found 18 gas and electricity suppliers overcharged customers when they switched. Refunds will be paid automatically with average payouts of £10.40, though you should contact your old supplier if you think you're affected but haven't received a payout.

Plusnet customers will no longer be able to get a discount on their home phone line rental by paying for a year upfront, after the telecoms firm axed its 'line rental saver' option for existing customers. If you're on the line rental saver currently, you won't pay any more until your minimum contract term expires, but when it does you'll be switched to paying line rental monthly, which costs just over £30/year more.

Big six energy firm Npower has closed down its app after hackers accessed customers' accounts, including partial bank details, MoneySavingExpert.com can reveal. If you used the app, you should make sure you're not using the same password on other accounts and be alert for suspicious bank account activity and phishing scams.
