Energy suppliers have now confirmed their new prices under the upcoming 1 April price cap. Most biggies, including British Gas, E.on and Scottish Power, have hiked their standard tariffs to the maximum allowed under the cap. Octopus is the outlier, pricing an average £50/year under the cap for existing customers, based on typical use. The move comes after widespread pressure from campaigners, including MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis, for the Government to step in to help households during the cost of living crisis. Former Igloo, Symbio and Enstroga customer? Check your direct debit has been set up with your supplier E.on NOW, or you'll overpay
Former customers of failed suppliers Igloo, Symbio and Enstroga risk overpaying by about £100/year unless they take action NOW, as new provider E.on Next has been unable to transfer across direct debit mandates. If you haven't done it already, you need to set up a new one with E.on Next by Friday 3 December, or you'll end up paying more, as direct debit is the cheapest way to pay.

Bulb, which supplies more than 1.7 million households, has collapsed into a so-called 'special administration', becoming the largest firm to fail during the current energy crisis. This process, which hasn't been used before in the energy market, means Bulb will continue to operate as usual for existing customers for now. But it will no longer take on new customers and its future as a company is uncertain.
