Rosie Hamilton is a Senior Writer on the MSE Money Features team. She looks after all our content related to benefits, reclaim rights, pensions, work-related rights and childcare.

Before joining MSE in 2021, Rosie was the Head of Communications at an estate agent comparison site. She has degrees from the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Her commentary and writing have been featured on BBC News, the Daily Mail and the LSE Review of Books, among many others. She's appeared as an expert commentator on BBC Hereford & Worcester, West FM and at the University of DeMontfort Business School.

When she's not researching or writing, Rosie likes to spend her spare time hiking and scouring Vinted. She also volunteers for the MSE Charity.

The scheme closed to new applicants in October 2018, but you can still use them if you signed up before then, and are with the same employer (and the employer still offers them).

If you live in Scotland and claim certain means-tested benefits, and you have children under 16, you can now claim £25 a week per child in 'Scottish child payment'. The benefit has today been extended to reach more families, while the amount you can claim has also been boosted. Over 400,000 children could now be eligible.

The Prime Minister today (19 October) said she was "completely committed" to the triple lock, meaning millions of people claiming the state pension could receive a 10.1% increase in payments from April. However, given the ongoing cost of living crisis and economic uncertainty the Government has yet to officially confirm whether this will be the case, or whether benefits will rise by the same amount.

If you were mis-sold a loan by embattled financial firm Amigo Loans then redress could soon be on its way after the High Court today (23 May) approved a complaints scheme to divide at least £112 million between affected borrowers.

Tens of thousands of borrowers with high interest loans are set to see their remaining debts cleared as doorstep lender Provident and short-term lender Satsuma officially shut shop and stop collecting payments. Borrowers can still submit claims for mis-sold loans though, but you'll need to be quick.

Millions of workers on Universal Credit will get a cash boost by 1 December, Chancellor Rishi Sunak has announced in his Autumn Budget. The taper rate, which is the amount Universal Credit payments are reduced by when you're in work, will fall from 63% to 55%. In addition, the amount households with children or a limited capacity for work can earn before they're hit by the taper rate will rise by £500/yr.
