10 months 0% on purchases and balance transfers

Finally a card company has come out and beaten the PC World Marbles cards 9-month offer.   Correctly configured RBS Advanta new online U card offer 10 months interest free on purchases and balance transfers – the longest we've ever seen.

This card is only the RBS Advanta U card not the RBS Advanta card.  It is a configurable card, which means you can set it up as you like with seventy-five combinations of interest rate and rewards.   As I explain in the credit card cashback article I don't think configurability is worthwhile for credit cards.

However at one extreme this card has a great option.  To get the 10 months 0% you need to opt for no reward scheme and a standard rate of 15.9%.  Neither of these are a problem, as if you want rewards other cards beat it and if you want a low standard rate other cards beat it too.  Therefore the only reason to pick this card is for this 10 month 0% option.

To get it go to www.rbsadvanta.co.uk - however do check it's the U card not the standard card you're choosing.

20 Free Text Messages a day
www.textstream.co.uk offers 20 free text messages a day from the internet.    This is £2 worth a day - £700 a year.  Of course you lose the flexibility of being able to text on the move, yet for texting from home it's a very useful system. Be prepared to have a line of advertising attached to the end of your message though.

A couple of tips for sending texts from the internet.

  • Always sign your name. The messages don't come from your phone, so the number doesn't appear on the message. Let people know it is you who sent them
  • People cannot immediately reply. As your number doesn't appear, it isn't possible for people to simply reply and send a message back to you.
  •  Queueing. Sometimes messages via the internet take longer as they need to be queued on very bad days this can take hours.

Multi-region DVD player £60

Richer sounds has cut the cost of the Accoustic Solutions DVD 321 (and it's a new slimline version), my past deal for the UK's cheapest multi-region player.  It now costs £59.95 for the multi-region and £49.95 for the single region.  For the text of the old deal go DVD Player Deal
