Guides and tools to help find the best ISAs for you

In this section we have a number of guides outlining the different types of ISA. An ISA is just savings account that you NEVER pay tax on. Everyone in the UK aged 16 or over gets an ISA allowance at the start of each tax year and you can save up to £20,000 (2019/20) and this can be in a cash ISA, a stocks & shares ISA, an innovative finance ISA, a Lifetime ISA (though this has a max of £4,000 a year) or a mixture of all of them.

Just like normal savings, cash ISAs come in different flavours – there's easy access (where you can withdraw money whenever you want) or fixed rate (where you get a guaranteed rate, but are supposed to lock cash in for a set time). If you want to transfer old cash ISAs to up the rate, we can guide you through how to do this, though not all cash ISAs accept transfers in, especially the top paying ones, so it’s important to do your research.

Or, if you’re a first-time buyer looking for information on Lifetime ISAs or Help to Buy ISAs, we have all the info about who they’re for and how they work.
