Marcus saver? You can boost your rate to 4.75% in seconds – here's how

If you've got a Marcus easy-access savings account or cash ISA, you can easily boost your interest rate to 4.75% by activating its new 0.49% bonus. It's well worth doing if you don't want to switch, but better rates are available elsewhere.
Both the Marcus easy-access account and the cash ISA currently pay a standard underlying rate of 4.24% AER variable. By adding the bonus, you can increase your total rate to 4.75%. To find out how this compares to other savings accounts, see below.

Select 'renew your bonus'.
To add the bonus interest rate using the Marcus app:

Tap on the three dots on the top right hand corner of the screen.
-
Select 'view bonus options'.
-
Select 'renew your bonus'.
If you're new to Marcus, the bonus will be automatically added when you open an account.
Paragon, Natwest's Ulster Bank and Zopa currently beat Marcus on rate
If you want to stick with Marcus, boosting your rate is a no-brainer. But if you're happy to switch, there are better rates available on other easy-access accounts.
-
For standard savings, Paragon Bank currently offers the top rate at 5.25% with a minimum deposit of £1,000. However, you can only make two withdrawals a year before your rate drops to 1.5%. If you need to access your money more often, Natwest Group's Ulster Bank currently pays 5.2% and offers unlimited withdrawals, though you'll need at least £5,000 to open it.
-
For cash ISAs, app-only bank Zopa offers 5.08% with unlimited withdrawals – though it doesn't allow transfers of existing ISAs into the account. Alternatively, Cynergy Bank pays 5.07% and allows transfers in.
