For higher value freebies, you'll need 1,000 MORE points – meaning spending £10 more. If you have a stash of points, consider redeeming them now to maximise what you get.

How to redeem your McDonald's rewards points

You can check how many points you have in the MyMcDonald's app. To redeem them:

  • At the kiosk, drive-thru or the front counter: Select your chosen reward in the app and you'll be given a code. You can then show this code to the person serving you or scan it at the kiosk.

  • For delivery and collection, order through the MyMcDonald's app: Select your reward in the 'Rewards & Offers' section of the app and choose 'Add to Pickup/McDelivery Order' before placing your order. Note that you CAN'T redeem rewards via third-party delivery apps such as Deliveroo, JustEat or Uber Eats.

A McDonald's spokesperson says the restaurant chain is making the change to the scheme "to reflect rising food and supply costs".

How the McDonald's loyalty scheme works

MyMcDonald's Rewards lets you earn one point for every penny spent at participating locations. You can sometimes earn bonus points on top (by ordering certain menu items, for example). Once you have enough points, you can redeem them for certain 'free' items.

As of 1 January 2026, points expire six months after you earn them – so it's best not to hold on to them too long.
