The Government is leaving millions of people with mental health problems exposed to scams by failing to combat online fraud in its forthcoming Online Safety Bill, MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis has warned. It comes as new research has found those with mental health problems are three times more likely to be victims of online scams.

Letters inviting people to take part in the census 2021 are being posted to households across England, Wales and Northern Ireland ahead of 'Census Day' on Sunday 21 March. But don't ignore or bin them as you can be fined up to £1,000 in the worst case scenario if you fail to fill in the relevant forms.

Around 200,000 women could be owed an average of £13,500 after their state pensions were underpaid, new figures reveal. These payments will now be made automatically following a Government review - although some women, depending on their circumstances, will still need to claim.

The NHS prescription charge in England will increase by 20p to £9.35 from 1 April, it's been confirmed. The cost of prescription prepayment certificates - essentially season tickets you use to cut costs if you pay for multiple prescriptions over a set period - are also rising.

HMRC has further relaxed self-assessment penalties for taxpayers. It means a possible 5% penalty for not paying outstanding tax by early March will be waived if you settle up by the start of April. However, if you’ve not yet filed your return by Sunday you face a £100 fine, so get your skates on.

Around 1.8 million taxpayers who need to complete an online self-assessment return missed the 31 January deadline, new HMRC figures show. If that's you, the good news is you'll be spared the usual £100 late-filing fine if you do it by 28 February - but if you've failed to pay any outstanding tax on time, you will still be charged interest from 1 February, so settle your account as soon as possible.
