Rail fares in England WON'T go up by 9% next year, the Government has announced. While the new fares are yet to be confirmed, any increase would come into force in March 2024.

Some train passengers have been unable to access digital Railcards for the past 48 hours due to a technical error. Anyone who has paid full price for their train ticket or who has been fined for not being able to show their Railcard due to the IT failure should request a refund.

Rail fares in England will go up next year but by less than the rate of inflation, the Government has said. The exact rise is yet to be announced but the increase will come in March 2023 instead of the usual rise in January.

Train passengers in England, Scotland and Wales will be hit with the largest fare rise in nearly a decade, with ticket prices increasing by up to 3.8%. It is the biggest jump since 2013.
