If you're a regular train traveller or commuter, now is the perfect time to check whether a season ticket could save you money. Prices in England and Wales are rising by an average of 4.6% on Sunday 2 March, but you can beat the hike and lock in today's lower prices by buying a season ticket that starts on or before Saturday 1 March.

If you took a South West train out of London between 1 October 2015 and 20 August 2017, and held a Transport for London (TfL) Travelcard at the time, you may have been overcharged and you can claim compensation. But you'll need to be quick as the deadline for claims is this Friday (10 January).

Rail fares in England WON'T go up by 9% next year, the Government has announced. While the new fares are yet to be confirmed, any increase would come into force in March 2024.

Some train passengers have been unable to access digital Railcards for the past 48 hours due to a technical error. Anyone who has paid full price for their train ticket or who has been fined for not being able to show their Railcard due to the IT failure should request a refund.

Rail fares in England will go up next year but by less than the rate of inflation, the Government has said. The exact rise is yet to be announced but the increase will come in March 2023 instead of the usual rise in January.
