Self-service supermarket tills - love them or loathe them?

More and more, we’re operating the checkouts for the big supermarkets and giving them a nice surprise with our unexpected items in the baggage area. Is this a change for the better, or should supermarkets be swept clean of them? Which of the following is closest to your view on self-service supermarket checkouts?

More and more, we’re operating the checkouts for the big supermarkets and giving them a nice surprise with our unexpected items in the baggage area. Is this a change for the better, or should supermarkets be swept clean of them?

Results

Love them: always use when possible 3,320 votes (22 %)
Dislike but still use: if queue's shorter 3,750 votes (25 %)
Don't use on principle: due to impact on shop staff 2,454 votes (16 %)
Hate them: and never use them 2,483 votes (16 %)
Neutral: simply depends on the queue size 3,209 votes (21 %)
