Hiya, an apology; the site's been yo-yoing up and down for the past two weeks. I know it's frustrating (my teeth are ground down an inch!) We've done the first of several server changes which should, typing with crossed fingers, help (no mutterings this week either).

CREDIT RATINGS. Improve yours and Loophole for a free report. Actually credit ratings don't exist, they're a myth regardless of what you read elsewhere. Each lender scores you differently based on its own priorities. In this I've tried to explain how it works, what they know about you, a special loophole for a free report and how (though there's no magic answer) to improve your score. New Article.

£125 FREE CASH LOOPHOLE(ish) NOW UNLIMITED! Alliance & Leicester's current account pays £50 each to existing customers who recommend it and the new joiner (plus £25 online sign-up bonus). It's the market's top account anyway (5% in-credit interest, 0% overdraft) so it's cracking. It's confirmed you can recommend it unlimited times. Non-A&L customers should team up; one joins then recommends the other. See bottom right of the
A&L Current Account* page and Best Current Account Article.

DON'T SPEND TESCO CLUBCARD VOUCHERS IN-STORE!!! They're worth 3.4 times as much via their 'Tesco Deals' redemptions for days out, roadside recovery and many other things. Spending them in store is simply wasting them. More Info. Related Article. Value Your Loyalty Points.

NOT IN FRONT OF THE KIDS CAMPAIGN. 37,000 people have now signed the petition demanding kids' TV channels stop airing secured loan ads. It's staggering. Let's keep pressing. The more signatures the greater the pressure. Petition. More info. Campaign.

FREE LOTTERY ENTRY LOOPHOLE!
A Directory Enquries firm's 'free lottery entry when you call' system sounds good, but actually as it's an expensive provider it's pointless. Yet a clever MoneySaver's noted a 'no purchase necessary' clause, allowing you to enter without calling. Snap it up. Related Article. Cheapest Directory Enquiries.

That's it for this week. Yet I couldn't go without sharing this little tit-bit. If you think your bank is bad how'd you like to receive a letter like this!

Remember banks and shops spend billions each year on advertising, marketing and sales training for their staff. Yet we consumers get no buyers' training. This e-mail is about redressing the balance. The more MoneySavers the more collective fire-power we have so do recommend friends and family join the free
distribution list for this email.

I hope you save some money

Martin

INTEREST RATES CUT SPECIAL. Don't believe 'great for borrowers, bad for savers'.

Last week the Bank of England dropped rates by 0.25%, yet trite newspaper headlines ignored the real picture.

Who actually gains? Variable (or discount) mortgage holders' repayments will drop; new loan borrowers may save.

Who won't see changes? Fixed-rate mortgage holders, existing loan holders, credit card borrowers and fixed-rate savings holders.

Who loses? Variable savings accounts (most savers), though competitive forces mean rates are slow to drop.

WHAT TO DO?

Mortgage holders remortgage.
This just means shifting to a better deal. See '
Free Printed/PDF Remortgage Guide' or read 'Sneakily Get Best Mortgage Advice Free'.

Personal Loan Borrowers. A new cheapest 5.6% uninsured loan has been launched by
Northern Rock*, Read Cheapest Personal Loans.

Credit Card Holders As always,
Balance Transfer to cheaper deals, and Shuffle Your Existing Credit.

Savers. It's a tough call. Access to your cash is often crucial, so in that case, ensure you're with the top payer.

Discuss base rate changes.
