NEW YEAR DEBT HANGOVER CURE: Don't pay more than you need to
Hopefully most MoneySavers will've borrowed the right way anyway, yet if you're paying interest on your debts ensure you minimise the cost. Most people should simply shift their debts to the lowest 'life of balance' credit card offer where the low rate stays until you've all the shuffled debt's been repaid, the current cheapest is Amex* at 4.9% life of balance. For those willing to shift debts again and again HSBC and Lloyds Platinum offer 9 months 0% no fee. FLIGHTCHECKER SALES WATCH  Ryanair "free" flights sale all routes! Ryanair's doing another of its free flight sales. Of course 'free' is bumkum, you need to pay tax and Ryanair's charges, however the max price is £31. M'free, non-commercial FlightChecker to find you these seats in seconds.

Sneaky loophole to earn 14% interest saving for Christmas 2006
Don't groan but now's the perfect time to start saving for Christmas. To help, I've rekindled my loophole allowing you to effectively earn 14% interest. Article: Double save for Christmas

Ten 2 for 1 cinema vouchers Just for the price of a £4 powderpuff Can you find a cinema near you?

Ditch your charity credit card as a New Year's resolution
I hate charity credit cards. It's a false feel good promise. A typical charity credit card donates 0.25% of your spend, yet use a cashback credit card and up to 2% of your spending is paid to you as cash. Donate this cash ticking the gift aid box and the charity gets even more, up to ten times the amount. So take 15 minutes and maximise your giving. WARNING! Self assessment deadline 31 Jan! Free personal/small biz tax help
If you don't hand your self assessment form in by 31 Jan, you'll be fined £100. Experienced tax accountant Tony Tesciuba (aka my Uncle Tony!) has agreed to answer small biz/personal tax queries in the Chat Forum over the next few days. Ask a question/see how it works or read the answers to the last tax Q&A

MoneySavers don't smoke! Quit smoking, save on cigarettes and £23K on financial products
A 20 a day smoker spends £1800 plus a year. Worse still it adds £23,000 over 25 years to the combined cost of life assurance, medical insurance, critical illness policies and many other products. The reason's simple: smoking means you're massively more likely to die or get seriously ill during the life of the policy. So for your health and your wealth read more about it and pledge to quit

That's it for this week. Before I go, with all the talk about debt above, I thought we all needed something cathartic to end. There's a lovely programme on the web that uses mathematical modelling to map the falling of grains of sands. Sounds boring, but it's actually really cathartic and addictive. Falling sand

I hope you save some money
