Wednesday (22 March) is Budget Day It's likely the price of cigarettes, booze and petrol will rise (at least with inflation). Petrol prices rise on the day, so do fill up before. The price of alcohol and fags tends to rise as shops restock, so buying sooner rather than later is usually a good idea. Discuss what you think will change Do you have a direct debit set up to an ISA provider? If so BEWARE! The warning's because if this direct debit continues, then the type of ISA you have the next tax year (starting 6 April) is automatically selected for you. E.g. if you've a maxi-shares ISA and make just one payment by direct debit after 6 April, then your 2006/7 ISA allocation is a maxi shares type and you can't open another type eg a mini-cash ISA. Therefore make a conscious decision about which ISA type you want, and if the direct debit doesn't fit, cancel it.
