Free credit report loophole,
No cost ferry to France/Ireland,
Only make minimum repayments? DANGER!,
And much, much more MoneySaving...

Cheers all round! Many credit cards have just dropped their penalty charges from £30 to £12 after the OFT's finger wagging. Plus masses of people started investigating reclaiming bank charges after Monday's Tonight with Trevor McDonald programme, and last week there was a record £17,500 payout to one man! The one concern many have is, "will we all now pay more due to these victories?" So I've added my thoughts in a special appendix to the main Reclaim Unfair Bank Charges article.

A special note for newbies: Each week I ask you recommend or forward this to friends and family. The reason's simple. This site is free to use and doesn't take ads, so marketing resources are small. Please help out and recommend folks join the free distribution list and save them money.

Proof! Ask for compensation and companies pay! Goodwill Hunting
Last week's Great Hunt asked MoneySavers to list companies which'd paid out compensation if it's requested following a compaint; the list includes Npower, HSBC, Telewest, Powergen, Amex, BT and more. One MoneySaver takes it so far he claims to make £600/month, perhaps that's OTT, but it's good motivation. The lesson's simple: always ask! Add your story/read others

WARNING! Don't fall for Halifax's new mortgage advert
It's difficult to miss Halifax's new all-singing mortgage TV ad. Yet ignore it not! Not because Halifax's mortgages are poor, some are fine, but because ask Halifax about a mortgage and guess what....? It'll only tell you about Halifax Mortgages! In the same time a broker could scan the entire market, find the very best deal, negotiate with the company for you - and you'd not pay a penny for it.
