A poor credit history is infectious, yet isn't caught by marriage or living together, but by sharing financial products. These days, when you're credit scored, it's totally independent from anyone you live with or are married to, unless you've a joint finances, eg a joint bank account or mortgage. So if one of you've had a poor history, avoid any joint products, then at least the others will still have the ability to gain cheap new credit which could help cut debt costs. This week I've had notes from 6 more people who read my nag to complain. In total they received £22,000 back. It only takes an hour to do the forms. Currently there's a deadline; fail to complain within 3 years of getting a red letter showing a shortfall and you miss your chance - thankfully someone is now challenging this deadline in court.
