Hiya. Got a lovely note from 'Frugal' this week, "I complained about our missold endowment after your weekly e-mail nag (article). To my utter surprise, this morning Standard Life offered £6,082.83 compensation. I truly believed I wouldn't be entitled to anything as we sold it years ago. Now I'll be debt free for the first time since I was 18 (sometime ago, I'll tell you).

Plus, after reading the forums, I claimed £270 tax back for washing of uniforms at home (note). Now I'll be attempting to claim my bank charges back too (article). Thanks all the MoneySavers, I can't believe it."

Please forward this to friends and family, so they can see what's possible too and suggest they join the distribution list for this free weekly e-mail.

Nectar, AirMiles, Tesco & other point schemes, major LOOPHOLES. New LoyaltyChecker.

Shopping loyalty schemes aim to confuse, deceive and baffle you into thinking they pay generous rewards – when most give a pittance. However, this totally new article tears away the mystique and, having valued all loyalty points schemes, shows you how to manipulate the anomalies and increase your stash up to eight fold. Plus the launch of a major new site tool, the LoyaltyChecker, which instantly reveals the true value of your stash for over 40 different loyalty schemes. Cheapest HayFever Remedies 99p for 30. Buy generic and save a wad. Full comparison.
Hayfever season's on us, and it's as tough on the pocket as it is on the nose. Yet don't be fooled by branding, what really counts is the active ingredient; it's this that does the trick. So you can buy the same drug, in a different packet and save a wad. To help, I've listed which drugs have what ingredient, then combed the high street to find the cheapest. GREAT TIME TO SWITCH! Find the cheapest Gas & Elec supplier and earn cashback/champers
It's summer time, and we've had the clearest run for a while of no energy price rise announcements. Thus, hopefully, it's a level playing field for comparison and a good time to find your cheapest. My usual top pick comparison service Energyhelpline* pays £12.50 cashback if it switches you, though Uswitch/champagne* will send a bottle of Piper Heidsieck champagne, worth approx £20, so pick your preferred freebie! As there's no guarantee prices won't increase again, the article lists the price rise dates. MoneySaving Analogy Champagne Contest Winner! Debt is like fine wine
Congrats to Kevicho who wins the champagne for "Debt is like a fine wine, the longer it matures the more expensive it gets". I also liked Tabby's "Money in your bank account is like a tube of toothpaste, it's easy to take out but tough to put back in!" Read all entries

Quick BBQ Tip. Use a red onion to wipe down the barbie!
This has nothing to do with MoneySaving, but I found it interesting so thought I'd bring it to you. At a family BBQ, my sister's friend who's a chef, wiped down the grill rack with a red onion. It was cut in half, with a fork in the back to hold it, and then dipped in water. Apparently this cleans the rack, reduces smoke and improves flavour. You heard it here first! Discuss
