New 18 month 0% balance transfer card! Watch the sting in the tail Capital One's new Platinum card is promising 0% on debts shifted to it, lasting 18 months. Sounds great, yet there's a J-Lo sized but! You'll pay a fee of 2% of the debt shifted, plus you need to spend at least £100 on the card, yet do that and the 'spending' is at a high interest rate, and can't be repaid until after all the other debt has. For those willing to play the system, there is a trick to get round this, making it a top deal, but it takes work. Sky TV Users can now get free broadband.... Much trailed in the press, those with Sky TV contracts of at least 12 months (paying by Direct Debit), with a BT line connection can get its basic broadband package for free, though there's a £40 activation fee - and it isn't available in every area. This is a good deal for existing Sky TV users who aren't locked into existing broadband contracts, though I wouldn't bother to sign up to Sky just for it.
