Happy New Year! Hiya, this week's email is brief, just the most current MoneySaving followed by five major MoneySaving things you can do right now, if you're at a loose end over this break.

The Festive donation means £3,000 is going to Children in CrisisLast week's festive donation promise of 50p for each new Money Tips email recipient saw 5,931 new people; rounding up, that means £3,000 will go to the charity (on top of the site's usual charity fund). Thanks so much to all who told their friends and family.

Pls spread the word before January's money rush. Debts and diets are the two things people seem to focus on in January.  If you know someone looking to sort out their cash, please tell them about the site and especially suggest they get this free weekly e-mail as it'll make sure they're sorted!

Free sneaky peek at your neighbours' house prices! And maybe cut your council tax
There's a free website that shows you the price all the houses in a street were sold for.  I included it in my recent council tax cost cutting article update and found it caused as much comment as the article itself. So I thought I'd highlight it for those who didn't see it then. See the free house price check section; or read the whole Cut Council Tax article.

Don't overpay for cold & flu remedies. You're simply paying for brand power!
There's a new spate of ads with the logo brand power in, set up to look a bit like a quasi scientific external body.  Yet its website admits, "We're not an independent body, manufacturers pay to use our service."  Medicines are all about branding and packaging, yet what does the trick is the active ingredient, which is the same in most generic products which cost a quarter of the price.  Find out more about how to slash costs in the Article: Cut The Cost Of Prescriptions And Medications  Related Articles: Private Medical Insurance, Healthcare Cashback Plans
