Argos logoArgos £50 spend gets £5 off next spend*Online & in stores. Get a code/vch for next purchase

Till Sat 4 Jun

If you spend £50-£99 online at Argos* by Sat 4 Jun, you should receive a code in your confirmation email for £5 off your next purchase with no minimum spend. If you spend £100+ you'll get a code for £10 off your next purchase. Once received, you have until Fri 15 Jul to use the code.

Delivery's £3.95, or you can reserve online and collect from a store for free. If using the reserve and collect option, you'll need to have picked up and paid for your item(s) by Sat 4 Jun, and on collection you'll be given a voucher to spend in store by Fri 15 Jul.

Alternatively, you could simply walk into a store and purchase by Sat 4 Jun to receive an in-store voucher along with your receipt. Again, you'll have until Fri 15 Jul to spend your voucher and there's no minimum spend on this second purchase.

The only items excluded from both the qualifying spend and the purchase with the voucher are gift cards, e-Top ups and iTunes vouchers. See full T&Cs*.

MSE Sarah G says:

To get the most out of this offer, look at how much you're spending and consider whether it can be divided into multiple transactions. For example, buy two pieces of furniture for £100+ each and you'll come away with a £10 voucher...buy them separately and you'll get two £10 vouchers.

BBQ logoCheap BBQs, from £1Also charcoal BBQs from £20 & gas burners from £50

Ongoing

With the weather hotting up and Brits barbecuing at every opportunity (and even persevering through the rain), we've rounded up the cheapest barbecue deals we could find ahead of the bank holiday weekend, including standard-size charcoal barbecues from £20 and disposables from £1.

£1 barbecues

Disposable barbecues are available for £1 in store at Poundland or Poundworld. The next cheapest we've found is £1.99 from B&M. They often sell for around £5 in supermarkets, so if you want one it's worth making the trip to one of the stores above if you have one nearby.

You should check the quantity of charcoal and burning time if you plan to cook for several people, as there's a lot at steak (sorry) and you may need to purchase more than one - or risk a grilling.

Standard-size charcoal barbecues

If you're cooking for a family of four, a standard-sized free-standing barbecue should do the job. On Tue 24 May, we found these strong deals:

  • 17" diameter pedestal BBQ - £20 (standard price) at Dunelm when you collect in store.
  • 17" diameter kettle BBQ - £20 (standard price) at Asda* in store, or £23 if bought online including delivery.
  • 17" diameter kettle BBQ - £23 (norm £25) at Argos*. Incl utensils and cover. Collect in store for free or delivery is £3.95.
  • 28" x 14" oil drum BBQ - £48 (norm £100) at Argos*. Collect in store for free or delivery is £3.95.

Gas barbecues

With gas barbecues, you usually save on time, but not money. You'll need to factor in the cost of the gas canister and refilling it compared to charcoal. On Tue 24 May, we found these deals:

  • Two burner Landmann gas BBQ - £50 (norm £100) at Tesco Direct* until Sun 5 Jun. Collect in store free or delivery is £3.
  • Three burner gas BBQ - £90 (norm £120) at Argos*. Collect in store free or delivery is £3.95.
  • Four burner gas BBQ - £100 (norm £200) at Tesco Direct* until Sun 5 Jun. Collect in store free or delivery is £3.

5kg charcoal

The hottest deals we found on 5kg bags of charcoal, which are sure to get you sizzling, include:

Instant lighting charcoal bags

If you don't want guests barbe-queuing up for a sausage whilst you're still trying to light the grill, then you might want to opt for the easier option of instant lighting charcoal bags. The best deals we spotted include:

  • £4.50 at Aldi for a 4k bag (4x1kg) in store only.
  • £4.50 at Sainsbury's* for a 3kg bag (2x1.5kg)
  • £4.50 at Wilko for a 3kg bag
  • £5 at Asda* for a 3kg bag
  • £8 at Sainsbury's* for a 6kg bag (4x1.5kg)

Barbecue safely

Whichever barbecue you choose, be sure to follow the Fire Service's barbecue safety advice, never leave your barbecue unattended, always dispose of charcoal or disposable barbecues responsibly and never leave your barbecue indoors.

Argos logoArgos: MoneySaving tips & tricks*Incl free Click & Collect, haggling & clearance

Ongoing

There are always ways to save money at Argos*, so even if there isn't a cracking discount code or sale out there that works for you, don't assume you can't cut your costs further.

Ways to save money at Argos include:

  • Free Check & Reserve. This allows you to save on delivery costs by reserving an item online and collecting it from an Argos store (find your nearest*). Of course, this will depend on your local store having your item in stock.

  • Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to find out in which shops they had most success haggling, and 17% said they'd managed to blag a discount at Argos - so it's probably worth a try if you're brave enough. Read our Haggle on the High Street guide for more haggling tips.

  • 'Free' Argos vouchers. Argos regularly does an offer where you can get a 'free' £5 voucher when you spend £50, or a £10 voucher when you spend £100, to use on your next Argos visit.

  • Check the online offers page. The Argos offers page* lists current deals from all sections of the site.

  • Check out similar retailers, eg, Amazon and Tesco Direct. If you're not committed to buying from Argos, check out our deals from other places such as AmazonJohn Lewis and Tesco Direct, where there may be a better offer.

  • Had a problem with Argos? There’s a free online tool you can use to complain – it helps draft, manage and if necessary escalate your complaint. It’s offered by a firm called Resolver, which we like so much we work with it to help people get complaints justice – you can use it to complain to Argos*.

If you spot any hot deals out there we have missed (we are human after all!), please let us know on Twitter @MSE_Deals or by emailing us at msedeals@moneysavingexpert.com.

Argos logoArgos 10%-20% off codes on selected lines*Incl indoor furniture, home audio and fragrance

Expired

Until 11.59pm on Tue 26 Jan, Argos* is offering discounts from 10-20% on selected ranges online and in stores. Delivery starts at £3.95 but varies depending on the size of the item.

There are different codes for each of the discounted lines (as listed below), which you'll need to enter online at the checkout or quote at the till in store. Discounts are valid on top of all existing offers. You can also stack the codes, so if you're buying items from different lines, you can add each code one at a time at the checkout.

Just because a partiular item is discounted, don't always assume it is the cheapest you'll find it, always do your research first.

Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
