KFC logoFree KFC fries every FridayVia the free 'Colonel's Club' app

79 days left

Friday is officially Fries-day, as you can now claim a free portion of fries every Friday at KFC (find your nearest), with no purchase necessary. Simply download its free Colonel's Club app for Android or iOS and the freebie should appear under the 'offers' section of the 'my rewards' tab.

You then just need to click the offer and show the barcode when you ask for your fries at any time before 11pm, every Friday until Fri 3 Nov. You can only claim the offer once per Friday, but can go back as many Fridays as you like until the promotion ends.

There's no need to buy anything to get the freebie, but it won't work as part of a meal deal - so you'll have to order them separately from (or as well as) your main.

What other KFC freebies can I claim?

By signing up to the app, you'll also get a 'free side' offer, which include two hot wings, small popcorn chicken, ice cream sundae or a regular soft drink (norm 80p-£1.70ish). You can't claim more than one offer per day - so you can't get your free side and free fries on the same Friday.

To get a free side, you usually need to earn three 'chicken stamps' (see 'more info' on how to earn them), but currently, when you sign up to its app, you'll automatically be awarded three stamps to qualify for a free side without spending anything – just scan the app in the restaurant.

You don't need to purchase any food or drink if the side is all you want either, although you can't claim both the free fries and side on the same day. KFC says there's no planned end date for the free side offer, but be aware that it could pull the deal at any time.

For more info on the Colonel's Club app, see KFC's website.

More info

The offer isn't available at any motorway service outlets or in Jersey.

How do I earn 'chicken stamps'?

You'll get one stamp when you spend £3-£14.99 in a single transaction in participating KFC outlets and you'll get two stamps if you spend £15 or more. You can't earn two stamps on two separate £3-£14.99 purchases in the same day – the second transaction would have to be £15 or more.

700+ branches

You can get a free KFC side at most UK branches (find your nearest participating store) when you download its free 'Colonel's Club' app from Google Play or the App Store. Sides include two hot wings, small popcorn chicken, regular fries, ice cream sundae or a regular soft drink (norm 80p-£1.70ish).

What else does the app give me?

After you've claimed your free side, the reward will disappear from the app but the stamps will stay on your account – so if you later spend money at KFC you can accumulate extra stamps on top to earn other rewards.

Spend enough to earn four more stamps (so you'll have seven in total) and you can get a free snack (norm £1.40-£3ish). Collect a further four stamps (so 11 in total) and you can get £5 off any purchase. Once you've reached 11 stamps, the balance reverts to zero but your £5 off is banked in the app and you have three months to redeem it.

More info

The offer isn't available at any motorway service outlets. All stamps expire 12 months from the date of the last stamp being earned and rewards need to be used within three months of being earned.

Free snacks include regular popcorn, snackbox, mini fillet burger, Streetwise Wrap, Krushem, Kreamball, four hot wings, large side or Lil Wrap.

Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
