RedSpottedHanky logoRedSpottedHanky train tickets via Clubcard*Covert 5 worth of points to 10 worth of train tickets

5 = 10
By converting Tesco Clubcard points into Tesco Rewards*, every 5 is worth 10 on rail site RedSpottedHanky. Be sure to check for individual operators' sales, as RedSpottedHanky's system doesn't usually factor in sale prices.
More info
While worth 1p in store, Clubcard points values are up to quadrupled when converted to Tesco Rewards*, which include days out, magazine subscriptions, holidays etc; eg, Alton Towers ticket for 11.50 of points, or a year's Company mag subscription for 8.

Other deals can be better value than going via RedSpottedHanky, but if you're buying them anyway, and don't need any other deals, it's a good conversion. Read more in the Loyalty Points Boosting guide.

RedSpottedHanky logoRedSpottedHanky 5 off 50 train tickets*Newbies only, sign up to get unique code. 1 booking fee

Train booking site RedSpottedHanky* is offering 6,000 £5 discount codes for those who haven't signed up to its site before. There's a £50 minimum spend – this can be on one journey, or made up of multiple journeys, as long as they're part of the same booking. There's a £1 booking fee per transaction.

How to get the £5 discount code

  • Visit this RedSpottedHanky* link and enter your name and email address.
  • An email will be sent to you with a unique 'PIN' code.
  • Click 'Claim My £5' in the email when you want to use it – you'll be taken to the RSH site.
  • Enter your email address and PIN code and click 'Activate'.
  • The £5 will automatically be deducted when your total booking is £50 or more.

The deal is due to end at 3pm on Thu 20 Oct, but as there are only 6,000 codes available, the brakes could be applied before then.

Codes can only be used once and expire at 11.59pm on Fri 25 Nov – but you can book tickets up to 12-weeks ahead, so you can use the discount on Christmas and New Year travel.

Prices on RedSpottedHanky are the same as buying direct from train operators most of the time (excl booking fee), but always compare to check you're getting the cheapest price.

The £5 discount can't be used when booking through the RedSpottedHanky app.

RedSpottedHanky logo16 RedSpottedHanky voucher for 8*Get online code from Amazon's daily deals site

RedSpottedHanky is a train tickets booking site which, as far as we can tell, offers journeys at the same price as other booking sites. So, by buying this voucher, you're effectively paying 8 to get 16 off train travel.

Go online to Amazon Local*and pay 8 for a 16 RedSpottedHanky voucher to spend on rail tickets.

Once you've bought the voucher, you'll be emailed a code to enter online at RedSpottedHanky. Your account will then be credited with 16 within the next 72 hours.

You have to use the credit to book tickets by 30 June 2014 and, as you can book rail tickets up to 12 weeks in advance, you'll be able to travel on journeys up to 22 Sep 2014.

On Tue 11 Mar, Amazon Local told us there were around 10,000 vouchers still available.

More info

There's no minimum spend, so if your journey costs 10, the remaining 6 will be kept in your account.

Can't be used with any other offers or vouchers. Only one voucher per person and per household is allowed. The voucher can't be used via the RedSpottedHanky mobile app.

RedSpottedHanky logoFREE 10 RedSpottedHanky voucher code*10,000 available in four batches throughout Thu 19 Sep

If you managed to bag one of the 10,000 completely FREE, no-min spend, 10 codes for train booking website RedSpottedHanky* (and the further 5 credit following a second booking of 20+), then here's how to use it:

  • Use the free 10 online at RedSpottedHanky* by Tue 31 Dec. You need to add it to the my account page - it will credit 10 to your account, though you'll need to add it to the 'payment' page too.
  • If you then book another journey costing 20+ (after receiving the 10 freebie), you'll receive an extra 5 straight into your account within 14 days of the booking, which needs to be used by Tue 31 Dec also. Unfortunately, you can't use the free 10 against the next 20 booking. But if you get the 10, book your next 20+ journey and receive the 5 bonus, the 5 and initial 10 can be combined in your next booking.

The credit's valid across the entire rail network (excluding Northern Ireland and sleeper services). If you have any problems using the codes, call 0800 377 7748 or email
More info
There's no minimum spend for the free 10, so if your journey costs 5 for example, you can use the code to get it as a freebie and you'll still have 5 in your account to use later.

One voucher per person and can't be used on the RedSpottedHanky mobile app.

RedSpottedHanky logo'Free' 9.50 RedSpottedHanky credit (2.80ish spend)30,000 available so you may pay & not get it. Collect 5 tokens in The Sun

Train booking website RedSpottedHanky is giving away 9.50 credit, when you buy five copies of The Sun. There are 30,000 codes, first come first served, but as previous RedSpottedHanky giveaways have been MEGA popular (though they were totally free), you may need to move fast.

Important: This credit ISN'T guaranteed. The Sun expects all 30,000 codes to go super quick, so you could spend 2.80ish (five papers at 40p-50p plus 60p stamp) but not be in the first 30,000.

Here's how to get it:

  • Collect any five of seven different tokens printed in the paper (40p weekdays, 50p weekends) every day between Sat 15 and Fri 21 Jun.
  • Send off the five tokens plus an application form (see 'more info' for the address) - printed in the paper on Wed 19 Jun and available online at The Sun from that date.
  • If you're one of the first 30,000 to apply, RedSpottedHanky'll email you to confirm 9.50 credit has been added to your account.

Both new and existing RedSpottedHanky customers can get the credit and it's valid across the entire rail network (excluding Northern Ireland and sleeper services) for travel until 31 Aug 2013.
MSE Michael says:

We've had a couple of emails from MSE users suggesting that you need three tokens rather than five, so just to clear up any confusion...

Originally, The Sun told us you'd need to send off three tokens and a voucher for a chance to get the 9.50 credit. However, it then told us late on Tuesday afternoon (right before the weekly email was due to be sent) that the offer would be changing to FIVE tokens (plus an application form).

We changed our note accordingly but The Sun is yet to update the t&cs on its website to reflect this - it's told us that this will be done later today (Weds).

More info
If you're a new customer, it'll email you with your new account details pre-loaded with 9.50 credit. Existing customers will see the credit in your account within 28 days. If you don't manage to get the credit, The Sun says it'll email you to let you know.

There's no minimum spend, so if your journey costs 5.50 for example, you can use the voucher to get it as a 'freebie' and you'll still have 4 in your account to use later.

One voucher per person and can't be used on the RedSpottedHanky mobile app. The Sun says to post your tokens and voucher to: PO Box 3190, Colchester, CO2 8GP.

Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
