MSE Blagged special offer deals

Below are the latest MSE exclusive deals arranged by the MSE Deals team – we call them MSE Blagged deals. We include these and more of the best deals we've spotted in the weekly MSE Money Tips email.

6 current deals

For Trip.com newbies

You'll need to purchase any train ticket within 180 days to activate the railcard

If you frequently travel by train, a railcard gets one-third off most tickets (or 50% off for the 16-17 Saver). The majority are £35 for one-year, but if you're new to third-party booking site Trip.com*, we've blagged a code to get £10 off a digital railcard (one that's stored on your phone) until Monday 31 August. The code makes a one-year railcard £25 (or £70 for three years).

There are a couple of hoops to jump through, but we explain how it works below.

Which railcards can you buy?

The code is valid on the following railcards: 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Family & Friends, Network, Senior, and Two Together. The offer's limited to one railcard per account.

The Disabled Persons' Railcard and Veterans' Railcard are excluded.

Buying a Family & Friends Railcard? It can only be shown on the Trip.com account it was purchased from, so the second person cannot add the card to their own phone and they cannot use it independently.

Buying a 16-17 Saver? These remain valid for a full year from the purchase date, even if you turn 18 during that year.

How to claim £10 off your railcard

  • Sign up for a free account at Trip.com*. If you're given the option to enter the code while signing up, you can – it's MSETRIP10 – enter it in the 'Promo code (optional)' box.

  • If you don't enter the code at sign-up, select the Account/Member icon and then 'Promo Codes'. Or in the app, go to the 'Account' tab and tap 'Vouchers & Promo Code'. Add MSETRIP10 in the 'Enter promo code' box ('Enter code' in the app) to add it to this section.

  • Go to the Trip.com digital railcards page* and choose the railcard you want. The £10 off should be automatically applied.

You'll need to claim this code by 11.59pm on Monday 31 August.

Important. You must buy a train ticket within 180 days to validate the railcard.

Trip.com doesn't charge a booking fee, and there's no minimum spend, so when buying a ticket to activate your railcard, you could just buy the cheapest possible fare. For example, we found a ticket for £1.60 from Stourbridge Junction to Stourbridge Town.

If you don't activate your railcard, you'll be issued an automatic refund.

Other useful info

Use Apple Pay? When purchasing your subsequent train ticket to activate the railcard, if you use Apple Pay as your payment method, ensure you purchase with the email associated with your railcard. Occasionally Apple Pay may generate an anonymous relay email address when you login via Apple ID, and this email won't be recognised alongside your railcard purchase.

Not new to Trip.com? Existing users can enter the code MSETRIPRC10 for 10% off (£31.50 for one-year or £72 for three years).

New to TrainPal? If you're new to booking site TrainPal, you can get 23% off a digital railcard. This makes a one-year railcard £26.95 and a three-year one £61.60, saving you significantly more on three-year railcards than the Trip.com offer.

3,000 sets available

Normally £98. One-off box, no sign-ups or subscriptions

Whether you drink wine or beer, say cheers to this deal...

Order via our special Wine52* link, and you can get a box of six international craft beers and six wines for £45 delivered. This would normally cost about £98 in total – £21 for the beers and £77 for the wines. You'll also get a copy of Glug magazine which Wine52 says normally costs £7.99.

This is a one-off box – there's no subscription involved.

All six beers come as 330ml cans and the six wines are 750ml bottles (you'll get three bottles of red and three bottles of white). Wine52 says the selection will vary, but you can see an example of what you could receive in 'More info' below. Wine52 has assured us the selection will always be of about the same value.

There are 3,000 boxes available and the deal ends once they've all been claimed. Delivery takes up to three working days (it delivers to mainland UK only).

This isn't a down-it-in-one deal, so please be Drinkaware.

The exact bottles and cans in your box may vary to those in the image

If you need help with your order, you can email support@beer52.com or call 0131 285 2684, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

What is Wine52? It's the sister brand to Beer52, selling both wine and beers, typically as a subscription service. We're not wine or beer tasting experts so we can't comment on the quality of its drinks, but Wine52 has a score of 4.6/5 from 15,000+ reviews at Trustpilot.

Warning. We've heard reports that some Wine52 users have found it difficult to cancel recurring subscriptions. To reiterate, our deal is a one-off box, and you won't be automatically enrolled in any subscription, but it's worth checking customer reviews if you do decide to take up a subscription later on.

Thirsty for more? See our full round-up of food & drink deals.

Important: After 100 days, you'll be charged £11.04 per month for 12 months (£12.99 thereafter), unless you cancel (you aren't locked in and can do this at any time). If you decide not to keep it, you won't be charged as long as you cancel before the end of your 100 days – you can do this online at Readly*.

Newbies only. Sign up by 30 September

New to cashback site Quidco? You can get an extra £30 cashback when you spend £5 or more online through it. Sign up using our special Quidco link* by 11.59pm on Wednesday 30 September, or before 20,000 people sign up, whichever's first.

Once registered, you have 30 days – or until 30 September if signing up in September – to make a qualifying purchase at one of thousands of participating brands.

You'll also automatically be given a three month trial of Quidco's 'Premium' tier. It says this gets up to 25% higher regular cashback rates and extra cashback on gift card withdrawals. After three months, it'll take £1 from your cashback balance every month you shop with Quidco unless you downgrade to the free tier. If you don't want to carry on with Premium, go to 'Account type' in your account settings to downgrade.

How to maximise the deal

  • You'll get the regular cashback rate as well as the £30 bonus. It makes this deal a no-brainer if you have a planned purchase you can make through Quidco. Do check a retailer's threshold for its normal cashback though – for example, Asda online grocery £10 cashback currently requires a spend over £48.

  • No planned purchase? Spend the minimum. Buy something useful that only costs £5. For example, a silicone air fryer tray from Dunelm or a pack of screws from B&Q will trigger the bonus.

  • Watch out for delivery costs. Choose free local click & collect where possible, as delivery fees don't count toward the £5 minimum spend.

Need-to-knows

  • Important. Cashback is NEVER guaranteed. See it as a bonus rather than a certainty. Occasionally purchases can fail to track (see what to do if this happens in 'More info' below) or the company you bought from can go bust. We've further help in our Six major cashback safety rules.

  • It can take months to get your cashback. The £30 will appear as 'Bonus Cashback' in the 'Activity' section of your Quidco account. Once your purchase is confirmed by the retailer, it usually becomes withdrawable within a week. However, retailer confirmation itself can take three to six months (or longer). Check the 'estimated payment date' on the retailer's Quidco page before buying. For more info, see its What happens when I make a purchase? page.

  • There are some exclusions, so check before spending. The extra cashback isn't available on some categories, including finance, gift cards and telecoms, and on some individual retailers, providers, products and services. See the full list in 'More info' below. Only new members are eligible and you must sign up via our special Quidco link*. The deal can only be used once per household and can't be used with any other bonus offer, including Quidco's refer-a-friend scheme.

For full disclosure... MoneySavingExpert and Quidco are both part of MONY Group (full info in our Editorial Code). Our analysis is always based on what the top deal is – nothing else – and we think earning £30 by spending £5 or more makes MoneySaving sense.

To do this, hit the blue 'raise a claim' button in the 'Activity' section of your Quidco account or go to the 'support' tab in the Quidco app.

For example, £3.80 instead of the typical £38. Plus get 35% off your second box

If you're new to tailored dog food company Tails.com* you can get 90% off your first box, and 35% off your second, when you enter the MSE Blagged code PDRUZS at checkout by 11.59pm on Monday 31 August.

The code works on meals for one dog, including dry food, wet food and treats. Tails.com creates a recipe tailored to your dog's breed, age, lifestyle and dietary needs, and it says all recipes are developed by vets and pet nutritionists.

As it's tailored food, the price and portion size of the box will be different for each dog. A box of food will last for one month and your first box includes a portion scoop. Tails.com says the typical monthly cost is about £38, so based on that, you'd pay about £3.80 for your first month with this deal.

Delivery's free for most, but if you live in Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands & Islands or the Isle of Man it's £2.99 for orders under £30 – see full Tails.com delivery info*.

Important: You'll be enrolled in a flexible monthly subscription. Your second box will receive 35% off, and then further boxes will be charged at full-price unless you pause or cancel. You can do this any time (including within the first month) from your Tails.com account if you don't want to continue with it, and you won't be charged for further deliveries. If you decide to get the second box, the discount for it will be automatically applied when the next payment is taken.

How Tails.com works

Complete a short profile about your dog, including their breed, age, activity level and any dietary needs. Tails.com will recommend a personalised recipe, with a choice of dry food, wet food or both, plus tailored treats if you'd like them. The cost per month depends on the particular recipe for your dog – see more on Tails.com pricing.

Tails.com has an 'excellent' 4.3/5 Trustpilot score from over 46,700 reviews.

Exclusions

The code won't work on toys or seasonal items and there's a maximum discount of £75 (Tails.com T&Cs* has full info), though most won't be bothered by that maximum, with the average monthly price of food being about £38.

See our MoneySaving guide for dog owners for more ways to save on costs.

Barbour, AllSaints, Cat, O’Neill, Radley and Superdry

Been eye-ing up some new prescription specs or sunnies? You can get a pair for £27 delivered (normally £99) when using the MSE Blagged code MSE27 at our special SpeckyFourEyes* link. The code is only valid on the items found via our link from the following brands: Barbour, AllSaints, Cat, O’Neill, Radley and Superdry.

The deal will end at 11.59pm on Monday 31 August, and you'll need to enter it in the vouchers box at the 'Shopping cart - summary' page once you've chosen your frames and lenses.

Need-to-knows for getting the cheapest price

  • Pick 'continue with free lenses' when asked to choose your lens package (stage five of the checkout process), as thinner or scratch-resistant lenses will cost £15 to £150 extra. To avoid other extras and keep costs down, select 'skip step & continue' until you reach the checkout.

  • You can enter your prescription during the checkout process, or opt to send it later. Some frames aren't suitable for high prescriptions, so keep an eye out when choosing. Do note that only standard lenses are included in the price – you'll pay extra for bifocal or thin lenses.

  • Select 'Royal Mail Standard' delivery – our code will make this option free (normally £6.99). Delivery takes 7-20 working days.

You can use the code more than once but can only use one code per item, per transaction – so you'll need to make multiple transactions if you want more than one.

SpeckyFourEyes says there are good stock levels available, but all frames are subject to availability, so they could still sell out fast if demand is high.

If you need to contact SpeckyFourEyes about your order, you can do so via this special contact page.

MSE Georgia-May says:

It's tricky to compare prices for these exact frames, as many of them are end-of-line and aren't sold elsewhere – but I reckon £27 all-in for a pair of branded prescription specs or sunglasses is decent. They're normally from £99 at SpeckyFourEyes, and when I checked on Thursday 9 July, I found AllSaints sunnies for up to £135 at Next.

SpeckyFourEyes may not always be cheapest, so do your own price comparison before buying. See our Cheap Glasses page for other deals on specs.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
