Vax logoVax: MoneySaving tips and tricksIncluding signing up for email offers

Ongoing

There are always ways to save money at Vax, so even if there isn’t a cracking deal out there that works for you, don’t assume you can’t cut your costs further.

Ways to save include:

  • Offers for email subscribers. If you sign up to the Vax email newsletter you'll be the first to hear about new products and special offers.

  • Look for sales. Keep an eye on the sale section of Vax's website. MSE also usually offers exclusive early access to special Vax sales a couple of times a year – so sign up to our weekly email.

  • Shop around. It's worth noting that Vax's products aren't always cheapest on its own website, so it's worth checking to see if you can find the item you want cheaper elsewhere.

  • Check out similar companies. If you’re not committed to buying from Vax, you may find a better deal on cleaning products at companies such as Dyson or Karcher.

  • Had a problem with Vax? There’s a free online tool you can use to complain – it helps draft, manage and if necessary escalate your complaint. It’s offered by a firm called Resolver, which we like so much we work with it to help people get complaints justice – you can use it to complain to Vax*.

If you spot any hot deals out there we have missed (we are human after all!), please let us know in the MSE Forum, email us at msedeals@moneysavingexpert.com or via MSE Facebook and Twitter @MSE_Deals.

Vax logoVax up to 75% off clearance sale*Code gets early access. 100+ products incl £290 vacuum £80

Expired

A couple of times a year Vax* releases discounted vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners and other cleaning products with slightly damaged boxes on a special site you can only access with a code.

This time it’s offering up to 75% off and we've blagged MoneySavers a code, MSE17, which gives early access to the site and right through to the end of the sale on Mon 3 Apr. This means you can hoover up the best bargains now before others get access from 12.01pm on Thu 30 Mar. There are over 100 different products in the sale, including accessory lines.

These deals have been extremely popular in the past and feedback has been very good (see below), with MoneySavers saying they could barely see a dent in the box. Vax has assured us the damage is minimal (eg, a scratch or a tear on the box) and the items are brand new and in working order. As it's so popular, expect some items to sell out quickly.

What if I have a problem with my product?

If your product is faulty, you have your usual consumer rights (see our consumer rights guide), but you won’t be able to return the item on the basis the box is damaged. However, the Consumer Contracts Regulations gives you 14 days to cancel, even if you’ve simply changed your mind, and a further 14 days to then return the product.

If you do have any problems, email customer support on factorysale@vax.co.uk or call 0330 124 2600.

MSE Tom says:

We've covered multiple Vax deals in the past and they've had positive feedback from MoneySavers, plus it's got a strong 8.5 average score out of 10 from 2,498 reviews on Trust Pilot. Here are some examples of positive feedback from MoneySavers from the last two Vax clearance sales in 2016:

"Thanks for saving me a fortune on a new carpet cleaner. £50 instead of £150!"

"Took your advice and saved £120 on brand new machine. Many thanks."

"Used the code in last week’s newsletter and got a nice new lightweight Vax for £75, saving £245. Box looked new, nothing damaged, all works well and a speedy delivery – result.  My 94 year old mother will now be able to wield her vacuum cleaner without straining!"

"Thanks for the info. My Vax machine RRP £299.99. Paid £99.99, delivered within three days."

"Result, needed a carpet cleaner (new pup lol), saw Martins email, five mins later had £199 cleaner for £79. Thanks guys."

Vax logoVax 20% off everything, including sale*With online code. Eg, vacuum cleaner £88 (next cheapest £142)

Expired

Until 11.59am on Tue 29 Nov, Vax* is offering 20% off everything online, including sale items, when you enter code BLACK20.

Discounts aren't as strong as they are in Vax's twice-yearly factory sales (March and September in 2016), where products in slightly damaged boxes have been discounted by as much as 80%. However, if you're after a new vacuum cleaner right now, Black Friday's a good time to pick one up – just make sure you compare prices before buying.

Strong deals we spotted at 2.30pm on Thu 24 Nov include:

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. And always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Section 75

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.

If a link has a * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site.

You shouldn't notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link. For more details, read How This Site Is Financed.

For the sake of transparency, so you can check there's no difference, here are duplicate versions of the * links that don't help MoneySavingExpert.com: Currently no affil links.
