O2 Priority customers 'gutted' as company closes multiple £1 meal deal loophole
O2 has closed a loophole in its Priority app that meant customers were able to purchase multiple £1 meal deals on a Monday.
A number of O2 customers flagged yesterday that all of the £1 lunch deals available on their Priority app from various outlets, such as Upper Crust, Boots, WH Smith and Domino's, had been bundled together under a single lunchtime offer, and that they can now only take advantage of one deal each Monday. Previously they were able to take advantage of the deal at multiple retailers. When quizzed by customers via Twitter, O2 initially denied that it had ever been possible to purchase more than one £1 lunch deal on a Monday.
MoneySavingExpert.com got in touch with O2 to clarify the situation and despite originally telling us that "the offer has always been for a single £1 lunch on a Monday", the communications giant has since said that "customers may have been able" to purchase more than one £1 lunch through the Priority app, but that is no longer possible.
A number of MSE users have bemoaned the fact they are no longer able to purchase multiple £1 offers on a Monday. MSE Forum user Choconutty says: "Seems like the Monday lunch offer has changed so you can only choose one lunch rather than all, if you were lucky enough to be close enough to them all in the first place."Forumite ThriftyManc adds: "Genuinely gutted that they've changed the £1 lunch offer, it was the highlight of my week."
Others have vented their frustration via Twitter:
What is the current deal?
Those with the O2 Priority app are now entitled to ONE of the following lunch deals every Monday between 11am and 3pm (between 10am and 2pm for the Boots deal):
A four slice pizza at Domino's
A meal deal at WH Smith
A meal deal at Boots
A baguette, Coca-Cola or Diet Coke and 32g pack of crisps at Upper Crust
Before Monday this week, customers could have purchased a £1 Monday lunch deal at each of the listed outlets.
