A "technical glitch' has resulted in some Sainsbury's shoppers seeing points disappear from their Nectar account. If you're a Nectar cardholder, check your account now - though Nectar has promised the mistake will be fixed and any lost points restored.

Both Sainsbury's and Nectar have ruled out any fraud and say they are trying to resolve the problem as soon as possible. It is not yet known how many people have been affected by the glitch.

'Nobody will lose their points'

The problem was first flagged earlier today by former MSE deals writer Charlotte Burns on her personal finance blog Lotty Earns, after complaints from Nectar cardholders on social media.

A Nectar spokeswoman said: "Nectar and Sainsbury’s recently became aware of a technical glitch which means that some point balances people are seeing on their Sainsbury’s till receipts have not yet been processed through the system, and do not align with their point balance.

"We are working on resolving this issue as soon as possible. We can reassure customers that nobody will lose their points."
