Tesco Clubcard scheme given major revamp with new contactless cards and Uber offer
Millions of Tesco Clubcard holders will be sent a new contactless card in the next few days as part of a major revamp of the loyalty scheme, which will also see you able to triple your vouchers' value by using them with new partners Uber and Hotels.com.
The supermarket today unveiled the new dark blue Clubcard, which will be sent out from Friday and allow you to collect points by tapping it at the till rather than swiping.
Tesco's also expanding its popular boost scheme, which allows you to swap vouchers for up to four times their value on entertainment and travel, such as days out. Taxi app Uber and accommodation-booking site Hotels.com are being added to the 400-strong list of partners from later today (5 July).

How is the Tesco Clubcard scheme changing?
Tesco started overhauling its long-standing loyalty scheme last year and has already made a number of changes, including scrapping its double-up event and introducing the PayQwiq app. Today's announcement, however, will see some of the biggest changes yet to the scheme. Here's what's happening:
You'll get a new contactless Clubcard. Tesco's sending out new-look Clubcards and key fobs from Friday onwards. They're to replace your existing cards/key fobs – though the old ones will continue to work for the foreseeable future.
You'll be able to swap vouchers for 3x their value with Uber and Hotels.com. These are new additions to the Clubcard boost scheme (see full details here). You'll be able to swap a minimum of 50p in Clubcard vouchers for three times their value on the Uber app or Hotels.com.
The minimum value of vouchers you can use on the boost scheme will drop. For many boost offers you used to need to exchange a minimum of £2.50 in vouchers, but for some offers – eg, English Heritage and the RAC – this has now dropped to just 50p. Tesco plans to roll this out to more offers.
A major overhaul of the Clubcard app. You can now use it to sign up to Clubcard and show vouchers in store rather than using ones sent through the post. It's available on Android and iOS.

Why is Tesco making the changes?
Chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini said: "Tesco Clubcard is one of the most uniquely helpful things we do and it's our way of saying thank you to our customers for shopping with us.
"We've listened to customers and we're delighted to have made Clubcard even simpler and easier to use, introducing a brand-new contactless card, an upgraded Clubcard app, and added to our list of partners too.
"Clubcard is the most rewarding loyalty scheme in the sector and we're looking forward to seeing how customers respond to the improvements."
