Teachers need to be "properly resourced" and supported to deliver much-needed financial education in schools, Martin Lewis has urged. Speaking to the House of Commons Education Committee, the MoneySavingExpert.com founder said getting personal finance on the national curriculum had proved a "pyrrhic victory" due to the lack of resources put into the subject.

Mortgage prisoners are still suffering every month and need urgent help from the Government, a parliamentary group has said. The call comes nearly a year after the publication of a major report, funded by MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis, which put forward costed solutions to the nightmare situation facing up to 200,000 people in the UK.

The Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has hinted help could be on the way for first-time buyers who face losing £1,000s of their own savings when withdrawing funds from Lifetime ISAs (LISAs) to buy homes above the scheme's property price limit. MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) founder Martin Lewis challenged Mr Hunt over the issue during an interview in the latest episode of ITV's The Martin Lewis Money Show Live.

New scam ad protection measures, such as two-click reporting and verification for advertisers, are to be introduced by major tech firms including Facebook, Google and more. The move was welcomed by MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis, who has long called for regulation and law changes to help stop online scams – though he cautioned that firms now need to "make good on their promises".

More joined-up mental health and debt support, especially during the cost of living crisis, has been called for by the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute and its chair and founder Martin Lewis. Providing money advice alongside mental health support could double recovery rates for people struggling with debt and depression and help an extra 27,000 people each year, according to the charity.

More than 110 organisations have so far joined Martin Lewis and MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) in calling on the Chancellor to keep The Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) at a typical £2,500 a year, rather than hiking it to £3,000 a year from 1 April 2023 as planned. MSE founder Martin Lewis set out the campaign call in a letter to Jeremy Hunt earlier this month.

Energy Price Guarantee to stay at £2,500 a year
Typical household energy bills will remain at £2,500 a year for at least three months from 1 April as the Government has heeded our and others' calls to postpone a planned 20% rise. The announcement ahead of today's Budget follows a month-long campaign led by Martin Lewis, founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, which has been backed by 130 charities and consumer organisations.
