A spate of new imposters have been using MoneySavingExpert.com's name in attempts to obtain personal details and money from members of the public.

Consumers have been warned to be vigilant following a 250% jump in the number of people tricked into handing over their card details and pin to fraudsters.

Fraudsters are increasingly targeting the public by stealing their card details to pay for illegal mobile top-ups. Such crimes are normally a pre-cursor to much larger raids on victims' accounts.
